  Comunismos y disidencias políticas

  La gran esperanza traída por la revolución rusa de 1917 y la idea de comunismo marcó, como utopía y como práxis política, el pensamiento social contemporáneo y el movimiento obrero internacional, entre interminables y encendidas polémicas, sembrando disensiones, guerras verbales, sectarismos profundos e irreconciliables diferenciaciones. Se desarrollaron diferentes modelos sociales, concepciones organizativas, culturas políticas, que se autonomizaron y cristalizaron como ramas de un árbol de un tronco común.

  An interdisciplinary conference organised by the IHC-FCSH/NOVA (Instituto de História Contemporânea da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa), intending to approach the distinct dimensions of Southern Europe's case as peripheral economies and their integration in diplomatic relationships.

  Women, Citizenship and Voting Rights

  On the 40^th anniversary of the 1976’s Portuguese Constitution, which granted universal voting rights for the first time, the Institute of Contemporary History will be hosting an international conference to analyse the role of women in the election processes. The conference will be held on 21 and 22 November 2016 at the Assembly of the Republic and it is open to all scientific areas.
