  Estudios Brasileños journal no. 14 – Varia section

  La Revista de Estudios Brasileños es una publicación semestral y de formato electrónico, resultado de la colaboración académica entre la Universidad de Salamanca(USAL) y la Universidad de São Paulo (USP). El objeto de la revista es la publicación de estudios originales sobre todos los diversos aspectos que configuran la identidad de Brasil, con contenidos en las áreas de Humanidades, Ciencias Sociales y Jurídicas. Hasta el 31 de octubre de 2019 está abierto el plazo para la recepción de artículos para la “Sección General”, “Dossier”, “Entrevistas” y “Reseñas” para el número 14 de la REB.

  African Ivories

  In the Atlantic World, 1400-1900

  Since April 2015, the international team working on the project “African Ivories in the Atlantic World: a reassessment of Luso-African ivories” (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia: PTDC/EPH-PAT/1810/2014), composed of 27 researchers from the University of Lisbon, the University of Évora and the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil, has been researching the trade, circulation and production of raw and carved African ivory in the Atlantic area from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century. The team has identified and listed objects from Portuguese and Brazilian (Minas Gerais) collections, also collecting references and descriptions extant in written Portuguese sources. For the first time a selection of ivory pieces was subjected to lab tests with a view to helping establish their age and origin. The project research team has submitted proposals for re-interpreting material culture in the framework of its African contexts of production.

  IX Foro de migraciones | Migratic 2017 – V simposio de investigacón sobre migraciones

  El Coloquio Internacional será realizado del 16 al 20 de octubre del 2017 en el campus Praia Vermelha de la universidad federal de Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), en ocasión de la edición conjunta del IX Foro de Migraciones/MIGRATIC 2017. El evento es fruto de una iniciativa colaborativa y en red emprendida por investigadores de Brasil, Francia, Canadá, Argentina, España, Estados Unidos, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador y Martinica. El evento tiene el objetivo de reunir investigadores y especialistas de varios países para debatir la cuestión migratoria en relación con el campo de la comunicación social, las teorías de la cultura y los estudios fronterizos, en el marco de nociones conceptuales más amplias como la política, la democracia o la ciudadanía.

  This conference, prepared as part of a 3-years research project on the “Overall Rural Tourism Experience” (ORTE) inthree Portuguese villages, offers an in depth discussion of the “rural tourism experience”, its manifestations, meanings, impacts and evolution. It intends to significantly contribute to current reflections on the potential and limitations of rural tourism as a development tool as well as to the identification of ways to maximize this potential in certain circumstances, through a more profound understanding of the dynamics of the “overall rural tourism experience”.
