Policing and Territories across Napoleonic Europe
From Local to Imperial Scale
Ce colloque international a pour objectif d’interroger le lien entre la police et l’espace impérial napoléonien, en étudiant l’administration, les pratiques policières et le contrôle du territoire dans les départements dits « de l’intérieur », dans ceux annexés, ainsi que dans les différents espaces placés sous contrôle impérial, comme les États satellites et les territoires ultra-marins. Il ambitionne de mette en lumière la diversité des configurations policières et leurs évolutions dans l’Empire, en comparant plusieurs profils d’espaces. Un premier axe d’étude cherche à questionner l’existence ou non d’un système policier centralisé, en réinterrogeant le rapport entre centre et périphérie(s). Un second axe d’études interroge les connexions policières à l’échelle impériale à travers l’examen de plusieurs cas de figure.

Le syndicalisme peut se définir, sur un plan général, comme un outil collectif de défense des intérêts matériels et moraux d'un groupe de salarié·e·s, organisé·e·s par métier ou par branche d'activité ou, de manière croissante au cours du XXe siècle, sur une base intercatégorielle. Très tôt, dès la fin du XIXe, et indépendamment des régimes politiques au sein desquels il évolue, les militant·e·s syndicaux·le·s se posent la question des modalités d'action collective et de défense des intérêts moraux et matériels du mouvement ouvrier, entendu au sens large du terme. L'action du Premier mai 1886 à Chicago et le massacre de Haymarket Square, qui lui succède, le 4 mai, sont, en ce sens, des moments fondateurs de la période à laquelle le colloque sera consacré.

Problems, methodologies and historical sources from the Antiquity to the present day
The PhD students in History at the University of Pisa (Italy) are pleased to announce a call for papers for a three-days online seminar (December 10-11-12, 2020) concerning the multifaceted concept of identity and its many dimensions. The seminar aims to grasp the complexity and intersection of different affiliations and identity constructions throughout history. In this sense, we will share new methodological and epistemological approaches, with a diachronic, global and interdisciplinary perspective.

Ce colloque envisage de donner, cinquante ans après les événements, une lecture historique de ce qu'on pourrait appeler le « secondo biennio rosso italiano » (1968-1969) et d’analyser les changements profonds, aux niveaux théorique, philosophique, politique, économique et juridique, survenus grâce aux luttes de l’époque pour améliorer les conditions de vie et de travail des ouvriers. On envisagera également la question de l'« héritage » de cette époque. Que reste-t-il aujourd'hui des luttes, des revendications, desformes d'organisation qu'il a vu naître ou s'affirmer ?

La deleuziana, a journal that desires
The schizoanalysis created by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari is critical-clinical. It is critical as it conjugates various knowledge and practices by freeing against all reductionism the transversality of the flows that trace a problematic. Schizoanalysis has profoundly influenced the practice of some important reference points in the social psychology of Argentina and Uruguay, and later in Brazil. However, this stimulating and favourable reception of schizoanalysis in South America is quite exceptional. Not only do we find nowhere else analysts who claim to be schizoanalysts, but even today it is largely ignored in clinical circles. It is in this perspective that this call for papers wishes to engage a presentation of the different theoretical and practical developments of schizoanalysis that currently affect the exercise of psychotherapy, although in reality this aspect is constantly overwhelmed. The aim is to identify the clinical perspectives that have proliferated in the wake of schizoanalysis to map emerging clinical practices.

Ce colloque entend explorer des problématiques associées à quatre axes de recherche principaux. Le premier concerne le rôle de la traduction dans le développement et la diffusion des idées politiques ; le deuxième prend en considération les pratiques traductives au sein des institutions politiques ; le troisième envisage les pratiques collectives de la traduction politique au sein des mouvements sociaux et des groupes d’intérêt ; le quatrième porte sur les pratiques de la traduction journalistique, notamment dans le domaine de la politique internationale.

The Agreements of the Holy See with States (19th-21st Centuries)
Models and Transformations, from Confessional States to Religious Freedom
This conference will explore the international legal agreements signed between the Holy See and individual states, which often but not always took the form of concordats and similar conventions. Its central focus will be to examine these conventions in light of diplomatic practices, as well as in relation to the political and religious dynamics of the nineteenth through the twenty-first centuries, notably the principles and requirements that comprised modernity. This entails assessing the historical evolution of the typology, method, content, scope, and spaces concerned.

Le Deuxième Sexe est un texte fondateur du féminisme, mais Mémoires d’une jeune fille rangée, La Force des choses ou La Force de l’âge ont eu un impact considérable sur les esprits, en France sans doute, mais aussi en Italie et en Espagne.

The profession of historian, l’historiography and its public usage in the Communist régimes of Eastern Europe
Pendant plus de quarante ans, l’écriture de l’histoire dans les pays de l’Europe de l’Est a été fortement conditionnée par les impératifs de propagande des régimes communistes. L’histoire a été instrumentale pour ces régimes car, plus que toutes les autres disciplines humanistes, elle offrait des justifications, et donc une légitimité, au pouvoir. Étudier la relation entre l’histoire et le pouvoir à cet égard signifie pénétrer dans l’histoire des socialismes réels, de leurs objectifs, stratégies, tactiques, entre fracture avec le passé et continuité, ainsi qu’approfondir les relations que les historiens et les institutions de recherche entretenaient avec la politique.

The diplomacy of literature in the 18th century: France-Italy
Au Siècle des Lumières, les diplomates eurent une fonction décisive de médiateurs culturels de haut niveau dans plusieurs domaines culturels, tels que la circulation des livres, les études sur l’antiquité, la production artistique, l’activité de traduction, l’édition. Ce colloque, parrainé par les Sociétés française et italienne d’étude du dix-huitième siècle, entend inscrire les profils de quelques protagonistes de ce système d’échanges dans une cartographie européenne et d’étudier le fonctionnement de ces réseaux qui favorisèrent la diffusion de nouveaux paradigmes politiques, philosophiques et scientifiques au cœur d’un débat supranational.

Se l’importanza di Agostino per alcuni autori trecenteschi italiani è fatto auto-evidente, basti pensare a Francesco Petrarca che lo scelse come suo inquisitore e guida spirituale nel Secretum, la lunga durata di questa influenza nel corso del secolo è ancora in gran parte da esplorare, a partire dal caso più contestato, quello di Dante Alighieri. Parallelamente questo convegno s’interesserà al modo in cui l’attività dei membri dell’OESA ha plasmato la vita culturale peninsulare nel corso del secolo e contribuirà a rimettere in questione le categorie storiografiche di agostinismo e anti-agostinismo.

The conference aims to be a reflection upon the theme of political solitude, from the perspectives of sociology, political science and political theory; this interdisciplinary conference is born guided by the aim to build possible connections between multiple disciplinary “islands”. Languages of urbanization and visions of the city
This section will focus on the representations of urban spaces and urban lives in the Americas, with special regard to the languages and the social practices that convey – or that have conveyed in the past – the idea of “making the city”. We are especially interested both in grassroots movements of urban resistance and in counter-hegemonic representations of the urban space. We welcome contributions on practices of re-appropriation of the city, on the strategies of resistance to the processes of gentrification, on the relationship between urban space and subaltern groups (minorities and/or subcultures) and on the ways in which the urban space has been represented, reimagined or invented in literature, cinema, comics, music, photography, television, visual arts.

Cette manifestation examine une modalité essentielle du gouvernement royal, passé un seuil territorial de domination et d’éloignement de l’agent, où l’enjeu est l’effectivité de la décision : qu’est-ce qui lie l’officier en charge d’une mission spéciale, d’un territoire particulier, à la volonté royale ? Qu’est-ce qui anime l’unité d’un appareil administratif évoluant à l’échelle de vastes principautés, et surtout la maintient ? Comment tenir ses officiers ? Quels rôles jouent le gage, la solde et les rémunérations matérielles ? Par là, comment se représente-t-on l’organisation administrative et ses rouages ? Le modèle organiciste est-il là aussi à l’œuvre ? C’est la cohésion de tout appareil d’État et sa capacité à agir sur le réel qui irrigue chacune de ces interrogations.

Between France and Italy - exchange and intellectual networks in the 19th century
Transalpina journal issue 21
La revue Transalpina, depuis sa fondation dans le cadre de l’équipe de recherche caennaise Identités, Représentations, Échanges (France-Italie), s’est régulièrement intéressée à la problématique de la réception de la littérature italienne en France. Dans les volumes précédents, l’attention des chercheurs s’était portée sur la traduction et la vie des productions italiennes dans le contexte français, sur l’histoire de la circulation des textes et des idées de la péninsule dans l’hexagone et sur différentes traces des auteurs italiens de l’autre côté des Alpes. Ces publications, auxquelles il faut ajouter d’autres ouvrages collectifs publiés à Caen et à Paris, ont porté souvent sur un intervalle chronologique large, pour souligner la permanence et les constantes dans les échanges intellectuels entre France et Italie.

Small Mediterranean Spaces. Islands, Presìdi and enclave
Territorial control in the Mediterranean geopolitics of the Modern Age (16th - first half of 19th c.)
The workshop will pay particular attention to the history of the Mediterranean of such small spaces and to the strategies adopted by the states in order to control them. The workshop aims at reconstructing a whole scenario, in which these small entities help outlining a history of the Mediterranean in which such small territories are not only included, but also assessed for their past importance.
