  III Spanish Congress of Sociology of Food

  The Third Spanish Conference on the Sociology of Food will take place in Gijón (Asturias) on the 27 and 28 September 2018. The event is part of the activities of the Research Committees (CI) of the Spanish Federation of Sociology (FES), which includes the Sociology of Food Research Committee. This group brings together researchers into food and eating at the intersection of health, culture, consumption, policy, and agricultural systems.

  Sanierung eines transnationalen europäischen Kulturgutes: das Stadtbad Straßburg (1908/10)

  Perspektiven zur Dokumentierung und zukünftigen Nutzung

  Les bains municipaux de Strasbourg (1908/10) sont un parimoine culturel transnational d'un genre unique au monde. Fleuron de la politique sociale très progressiste de la municipalité alsacienne au temps du Reichsland allemand, ils comprennent deux bassins, des bains-douches, des bains romains, ainsi qu'une aile médicale. Restés quasiment intacts durant leur service ininterrompu depuis plus de cent ans, ils doivent subir une rénovation importante afin de pouvoir continuer à fonctionner. Au moment où la Ville de Strasbourg discute de la meilleure façon pour préparer ce patrimoine pour l'avenir, une perspective franco-allemande a pour objectif d'esquisser des perspectives d'action sur le fonds de rénovations qui ont déjà eu lieu en Allemagne.

  Verkörperung von Freiheit und Zwang in der Sozialen Arbeit

  Obwohl in sozialen Einrichtungen menschliche Körper und Emotionen allgegenwärtig sind – ob es sich dabei um kindliche, jugendliche, erwachsene, betagte, behinderte Körper handelt – wird diese Tatsache bei der Gewinnung und Weiterentwicklung von Wissen allzu oft ausgeblendet. Die Körperlichkeit und alle damit verbundenen Normen, Praktiken, Affekte und Erscheinungsformen sind sowohl in der Sozialarbeit, wie auch der Sozialpädagogik und der Soziokulturellen Animation zentral, sie bilden Kerngehalte des Beziehungsaufbaus zwischen Fachkräften und Leistungsempfangenden. Nachdem sie lange aus den berufsbildenden Prozessen ausgeklammert wurden, gewinnen sie derzeit an Bedeutung. Es fehlt jedoch vielfach an vertieften Analysen und einer kritischen Diskussion. Die Reflexion über die Inszenierung der Körperlichkeit in der Sozialen Arbeit muss weiter entwickelt und verbreitet werden, um den professionellen Umgang mit schwierigen Situationen einerseits weiter zu verbessern, andererseits aber auch kritisch zu diskutieren.

  Ethische Fragen der Behinderung

  Parfois on naît avec un handicap, parfois c’est un accident de la vie ou une évolution pathologique, ou même un aléa du progrès médical… Mais « avoir » un (ou plusieurs) handicap(s) est-ce pour autant « être » handicapé(e) ? Que ce signifie être « autre » quand nous sommes tous… différents ? Ne suffirait-il pas parfois « d'accompagner » pour redonner à l’autre ses pleines capacités ? L’accessibilité, l’inclusion ou l’intégration scolaire et sociale, l’insertion professionnelle, la vie culturelle et associative, les perspectives thérapeutiques et les supports technologiques… vont dans le bon sens. Mais tout cela n’est-il pas aussi la conséquence d’un long combat – qui n’est pas terminé, loin s’en faut ! – au nom de l’éthique ? Être porteur de ce que l'on considère être un handicap, c'est toujours devoir accepter l'inacceptable pour apprendre à vivre comme sujet avec son corps et la réalité.

  Medical expertise in the 20th and 21st century / Medizinische Expertise im 20. und 21. Jahrhundert / L'expertise médicale aux XXe et XXIe siècles. Annual conference of the Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Sciences, September 5 – 7, 2013, Bern, Switzerland. The conference would like to address the issue from various perspectives and ask e.g. the following questions: To which levels of medical knowledge and activity (skill, professional knowledge, experience, relationship with patients) did and does the claim of expertise refer to? Which strategies, rhetorics and kinds of self-fashioning were and are used in order to achieve, retain or reject the status of expertise? Which was and is the relationship between expertise, profession(nalism), institutionalization and specialization? In what respect is there a difference between a physician's claim of expertise and that of other health professionals?
