Artistic, Digital, and Political Creation in English-Speaking African Countries
Africa 2020
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. Even if this cultural focus cannot be abstracted from a broader geopolitical agenda marred by controversial presidential declarations, it nevertheless has the potential to offer a somewhat different coverage of the continent. One can only hope that it avoids the temptation to officially “curate into being” “exceptional” artists (Dovey), tapping into the all-too-familiar image of Africa as “the supreme receptacle of the West’s obsession with, and circular discourse about, the facts of ‘absence,’ ‘lack,’ and ‘non-being,’ of identity and difference” (Mbembe).

The ultimate purpose of the International Congress on Desert Economy – Dakhla, is to be a scientific and multidisciplinary platform on desert and Sahara economy development, in order to contribute effectively to the good governance and in the sustainable development of desert regions, by stimulating meetings between all stakeholders on a global scale, with a view to fostering cooperation and partnership, among (Sahara) desert countries (Africa, the Gulf States, the United States of America, China, Australia...), with the aim of creating a conducive environment to the exchange of experiences, expertise and innovation, around themes related to desert and Sahara economy development, such as: Tourism and travel industry, agriculture, renewable energy, raw materials, transportation and logistics, sea and ocean economy, technology and innovation, entertainment and sport economy, cultural and intangible heritage, nature and environment.

L’école de printemps « Histoire audiovisuelle au XXe siècle : Corps, pratiques et émotions » est une invitation à examiner de manière approfondie et sur une durée de cinq jours, la relation qui existe entre l’histoire du corps et sa politique d’une part, et le film et la télévision au XXe siècle d’autre part. C’est une perspective transnationale qui a été choisie ; elle prendra en compte l’Allemagne, la France et la Grande-Bretagne.

Special session, Sixth EUGEO, congress on the Geography of Europe
Dans le cadre de l'EUGEO 2017 nous proposons une session spéciale sur l'attractivité territoriale et la qualité de vie. Nous proposons d'explorer les façons novatrices de concevoir l’attractivité territoriale. Comment penser l’attractivité en termes innovants ? Comment penser cette innovation autrement qu’en termes de structures de gouvernance ? Comment par exemple innover en termes d’acteurs impliqués, d’indicateurs choisis, de politiques… Bref, trois axes principaux guideront cette session spéciale : stratégies innovantes de l’attractivité territoriale ; qualité de vie, bien-être et attractivité territoriale ; perceptions et représentations territoriales au service de l’attractivité.

The Doctoral Adam Galos Circle for the History of the 19th and the 20th Centuries invites PhD students and early career scholars to participate in the international conference titled City and the Process of Transition – from Early Modern Times to the Presentto be held at the Historical Institute of the University of Wroclaw, June 8th – 10th 2017. The intention of the organizers is to challenge questions concerning the behavior of the city dwellers who faced the lack of stability, resulted primarily from the progressive urbanization and globalization since the early modern era.

Radical Americas Symposium 2016
The theme of this year’s Radical Americas symposium is “Decolonizing Americas”, acknowledging the long arc of struggle for freedom since the period of European colonization of the Western Hemisphere in the 15th century. Our collaborative effort will be to consider how histories within the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean converge and depart in relation to the experience of anti-colonial and decolonizing social movements, many of which continue today. We will also consider the ways that cultural efforts, collectives, art, and intellectual projects shape radical imaginaries of freedom.

The Relationship between Intellectual Property and its Physical Embodiment
This conference aims to look at the relationship between intellectual property and its physical materialisations, with a particular focus on the issue of access and the challenges of new technologies. Though intellectual property protects the intangible, it is indisputable that intellectual property goods classically had to be physically materialised in order to been joyed or used. This materialisation can, however, challenge our theoretical notion of the intangible and the tangible as constituting discrete forms of property and can have serious consequences on access to intellectual property goods. Our aim is to address the divide between the intangible and the tangible from the perspective of issues of access and problems relating to new technologies.

La Fondation maison des sciences de l’homme et ses partenaires offrent des bourses de recherche postdoctorale en sciences humaines et sociales d’une durée de 9 mois dans le cadre de son programme « Fernand Braudel-IFER » (International Fellowships for Experienced Researchers), soutenu par la Commission européenne (programme action Marie Curie – COFUND – 7e PCRD). Le programme Fernand Braudel-IFER se décline en deux volets : le programme Fernand Braudel-IFER incoming est destiné à des séjours en France (pour des chercheurs appartenant à un centre de recherche basé à l’étranger) ; le programme Fernand Braudel-IFER outgoing (pour des chercheurs appartenant à un centre de recherche en France) s’adresse à des candidats résidant en France qui souhaitent réaliser un séjour de recherche dans un autre pays européen (membre de l'Union européenne ou associé au FP7).

Le Franco-Allemand oder die Frage nach den Herausforderungen transnationaler Vernetzung
Le Franco-Allemand ou les enjeux des réseaux transnationaux
2013 jährt sich zum 50. Mal die Unterzeichung des Elysée-Vertrags. Aus diesem Anlass organisiert die romanistische Kulturwissenschaft unter Leitung von Prof. Röseberg und Marie-Therese Mäder eine deutsch-französische Tagung, in der das Franco-Allemand thematisiert werden soll. Die Veranstaltung findet vom 14. bis 16. Juni an der LEUCOREA in Lutherstadt Wittenberg statt. Eingeladen sind insbesondere junge Forscher, die sich im Rahmen ihrer Qualifikation mit Aspekten des Transnationalen beschäftigen.
