  Picturing Tomorrow: Future-directed Imagination in American Art

  Comment comprenons-nous le concept d’avenir ? Est-il inévitable et formé par une longue séquence d’événements et occurrences accidentelles interconnectées ? Ou le concevons-nous comme quelque chose déterminé par nos actions et nos décisions présentes ? Est-il une pure potentialité, la promesse d’un monde radicalement différent et tout à la fois inimaginable ? Ou est-il considéré comme à jamais inaccessible, définissant notre expérience du présent comme un état perpétuel du sursis et de l’éphémère ?

  Le travail que le collectif de jeunes chercheur∙e∙s « Migrations et altérités » a mené durant toute l'année scolaire touchera bientôt à sa fin. Après l'organisation de plusieurs séminaires et ateliers, dont vous avez pu suivre l'actualité sur notre page, l'aboutissement de notre réflexion prendra la forme d'une journée d'étude intitulée "Entre recherche et action", lors de laquelle chacun des membres du collectif présentera une communication.

  Rencontre avec l'écrivain Pablo Landeo et présentation de son roman en quechua « Aqupampa »

  L'association Amériques de l'INALCO en partenariat avec l'ambassade du Pérou en France proposent une rencontre avec l'écrivain Pablo Landeo Muñoz et la présentation de son roman en quechua Aqupampa. Carlos Amézaga, ministre conseiller à l’ambassade du Pérou, prononcera un discours d’ouverture. La présentation du roman sera faite par César Itier (INALCO). Elle sera suivie d’un dialogue avec l’auteur Pablo Landeo Muñoz et d’une lecture d’extraits du roman (surtitrés en français). Cette rencontre sera clôturée par un concert de musique andine proposé par le groupe Paris Andes.

  Une discipline indisciplinée: défis à venir pour les études des cultures populaires

  This call for paper is for a workshop which it itself included in this year's international symposium of the AFEA (Franch Association of American Studies) which will happen in Nantes, France from May 22 nd to the 24th. This year's main theme of the conference is "discipline/indiscipline." (event for which you can find more information here: http://www.afea.fr/-2019-AFEA-Conference-Discplines-Indiscipline-.html) This workshop intends to address and explore further this binary dichotomy through the prism of cultural studies, interrogating more precisely if the emergence of pop cultural studies is truly something to advocate for. Communications can tackle this issue from a more theoretical standpoint, but they can also deal with more precise case studies which would illustrate how pop culture and cultural studies are both defying disciplinary classifications. Communications can be either in French or in English.

  Representations of Power and Power of the Image in British and American Contemporary Photography

  Représentations du pouvoir et pouvoir de l’image dans la photographie contemporaine américaine et britannique

  From the power of images to images of power, this workshop will explore the representations of power and the power of representation in contemporary American and British photography. What is photography capable of doing? Whether in the form of a public person, the environment of power (emblematic places and explicit or underlying forms) or its symbolism, what is photography capable of revealing about power itself? Political, institutional, economic or social power all depend upon a system of relations or tensions between groups or individuals (accepted, rejected, questioned, expressed visually or internalized) participating in the construction of the identity, myths or memories of the American or British nations. In what manner does photography enhance or contribute to this construction or deconstruction of the notion of identity and nation?

  La traductologie au Brésil

  Os Estudos acadêmicos brasileiros no âmbito dos Estudos da Tradução, tem-se caracterizado nas últimas décadas por uma intensa produção bibliográfica, tanto teórico-acadêmica quanto de traduções. Além disso, as pesquisas nos Estudos da Tradução no Brasil têm assumido um caráter sempre mais transdisciplinar com contribuições advindas da Antropologia, da Crítica Genética, da História Social e Política, da Sociologia, entre outras disciplinas. Convidamos todos os tradutores e os pesquisadores brasileiros, que atuam nesses âmbitos de reflexão e produção, a enviarem seus trabalhos para este número temático da nossa revista voltado aos Estudos da Tradução no Brasil.
