    Cultural and Creative Industries of Childhood and Youth

    VIIIth Interdisciplinary Conference on Child and Teen Consumption

    The interdisciplinary conference « Child and Teen Consumption » aims to facilitate in-depth dialogue between researchers from various disciplines: management, psychology, sociology, information and communication, anthropology, history, educational sciences, law, etc. Whilst the 8th conference will aim to continue interdisciplinary research and dialogue on broad themes related to children and young people as consumers, the theme of the 2018 conference will be « Cultural and Creative Industries of Childhood and Youth » in order to reflect its location in Angoulême and the growing research and public policy interest in this topic. The conference aims to highlight research in this domaine and invites producers of cultural material to bring their views to the debate.

    The present seminar is the continuation of the symposium Bodies in action. The Biocultural Dimensions of the Everyday life that was held within the framework of the 4th Congress on Latin American Anthropology (Mexico, 2015). We invite to this seminar Biocultural Dimensions of the Everyday life researchers interested in the study of the body, of the human embodiment, of the techniques of the body, of the linkages between bodily action and material culture, of the human/animal co-actions, of the nutrition, of the health, of the bodily education, of the dance, of the sexuality and of other fragments of everyday life that invite to think about the complexity of the human being-in-the-world.

Can we identify barriers which currently prevent Digital Humanities from developing their full potential, leaving little room for iteration, comparison or failure? The conference itself is conceived as an experimental set-up with labs, data experiments and round tables.

This conference will bring together scholars of all disciplines — psychology, psychoanalysis, sociology, anthropology, history, philosophy, linguistics, literary studies, feminist and gender studies, education, medicine/healthcare, social work, biology, law, theology, computer science, visual studies, etc. — to reflect on the issue of the, sometimes, contested epistemic powers of narrative.

    Rwanda: Genocide and Reconstruction

    A journey through the Genocide of Tutsi

    Organized in Rwanda by the Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Center. The Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Center based in Kigali, Rwanda continues their two/three-week US/Rwanda exchange program in order to deepen students’, researchers’, and artists’ knowledge of the Rwandan genocide. In the last years, the program started in 2004 has enabled teachers and students from Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Afghanistan, Singapore, Mexico, UK, France, Belgium, Spain, and the USA to develop narratives that engage questions of social justice, conflict resolution, and peace building. The program has involved theater artists, filmmakers, academicians, researches, and students from various disciplines and countries, whose practice engages questions of peace building.
