Pour une nouvelle histoire transnationale de l’art (XVIII^e­‐XIX^e siècles), organizzato dalla École française de Rome con il supporto della Bibliotheca Hertziana - Istituto Max Planck per la storia dell'arte. A un anno dall’inizio del programma di ricerca Lettres d’artiste, questo seminario si propone di fare il punto sulle ricerche in corso nel quadro del programma, analizzando i primi risultati e affrontando le questioni metodologiche ancora aperte circa il censimento, la schedatura, il trattamento informatico e l’analisi degli epistolari artistici tra Sette e Ottocento.

  In continuation of the society’s inaugural conference on Modernist communities, we now propose to explore the debate over emotions in the Modernist era. We hope to foster reflection and discussion that will go beyond the paradox of a passionately anti-emotional Modernism towards a reconsideration of the large extent to which Modernism attempts to channel, remotivate, and revalue the power of emotion.

  In 1980, François Furet established the first visiting chair in North American studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in partnership with the French-American Foundation. Yet, it was not until 1984 and the election of Jean Heffer as permanent full professor that the Center for North American Studies (CENA) came into being. Despite pioneering efforts in some English departments and the creation of the first university chair in North American history at the Sorbonne in 1967, there was significant disparity between the importance of the USA in the contemporary world and the weakness of North American studies in France. Over the last thirty years and under the supervision of Jean Heffer and François Weil, the CENA has become one of the leading institutions for North American scholarship in France and Europe.

  Archéologie des campagnes et histoire rurale (Moyen Âge – époque moderne)

  Deuxième école d'été d'histoire rurale de Flaran

  « Archéologie des campagnes et histoire rurale – Moyen Age et époque moderne » : le thème choisi pour cette édition 2013 de l’école d’été d’histoire rurale permettra de s’interroger sur les relations entre l’histoire et l’archéologie rurale. Plus que les oppositions, ce sont d’abord les relations, les combinaisons et les interrelations disciplinaires qui nous semblent devoir être questionnées à travers les différentes traditions scientifiques européennes (Angleterre, Allemagne, Belgique, Espagne, France, Italie). Ce tour d’horizon européen constituera l’intérêt majeur de l’école d’été 2013. La réflexion mettra également l’accent sur le développement récent de l’archéologie moderne, ou post-médiévale, pratiquée en Angleterre et en Italie, par exemple, mais qui reste encore embryonnaire dans plusieurs pays européens et sur l’apport et les modalités de recherche de l’archéologie préventive.
