Mississippi Delta Communities Facing Disappearing Land
"Still on the Map!" takes as its context the Mississippi Delta fifteen years after Hurricane Katrina and about five years after the commissioning of the major new "100-year" flood protection infrastructure. Expressed from its title -a statement of resistance/resilience chanted by many inhabitants during ecological events in Louisiana- this research project aims to describe the links and "attachments" (LATOUR, 2017) that different communities in the delta maintain with their geographical environment in a situation of strong ecological tipping point, integrating the natural and artificial infrastructures of the watershed into the definition of ecosystems as socio-political actors in their own right. In a context where the delta's land is gradually sinking into the sea, every hour the surface area of a football pitch is permanently flooded.

The project “Gangs, Gangsters, and Ganglands: Towards a Global Comparative Ethnography” (GANGS) aims to develop a systematic comparative investigation of global gang dynamics, to better understand why they emerge, how they evolve over time, whether they are associated with particular urban configurations, how and why individuals join gangs, and what impact this has on their potential futures. It draws on ethnographic research carried out in Nicaragua, South Africa, and France, adopting an explicitly tripartite focus on “Gangs”, “Gangsters”, and “Ganglands” in order to better explore the interplay between group, individual, and contextual factors. The first will consider the organisational dynamics of gangs, the second will focus on individual gang members and their trajectories before, during, and after their involvement in a gang, while the third will reflect on the contexts within which gangs emerge and evolve.

Le projet du colloque sera d'examiner le regard sur l'Autre, français ou états-uniens de la part de voyageurs mexicains, politiques, intellectuels et anonymes pouur la période 1821-1950 sur la base d'écrits du for intérieur : correspondances, journaux intimes, mémoires, sans exclure les chroniques et les documents publiés dans la presse mexicaine sur la France et les États-Unis de la période considérée.

La preservación digital es un tema que atañe a bibliotecas, archivos, museos y galerías y que hasta ahora se ha trabajado de forma aislada. Se han buscado soluciones parciales y fragmentarias, sin embargo, cada vez es más evidente la necesidad de emprender proyectos de colaboración para crear estrategias, investigaciones y plataformas digitales que sean comunes para colecciones librarias, impresas, sonoras, audiovisuales y fotográficas. No es posible seguir manteniendo silos digitales, es necesario que las instituciones de la memoria se comuniquen y diseñen las estrategias a través de las cuales se garantice la permanencia de los contenidos a largo plazo. Bajo estas consideraciones se llevará a cabo el II congreso internacional de archivos digitales. Conectando los saberes de bibliotecas, archivos, museos y galerías para la preservación digital.

Radical Americas Symposium 2016
The theme of this year’s Radical Americas symposium is “Decolonizing Americas”, acknowledging the long arc of struggle for freedom since the period of European colonization of the Western Hemisphere in the 15th century. Our collaborative effort will be to consider how histories within the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean converge and depart in relation to the experience of anti-colonial and decolonizing social movements, many of which continue today. We will also consider the ways that cultural efforts, collectives, art, and intellectual projects shape radical imaginaries of freedom.

The conference seeks to examine the shaping of art history as a discipline during the 19th century in relation to artistic training and exchanges between artists and scholars. The development of art history has been associated with an array of socio-political and economic factors such as the formation of a bourgeois public, the politics of national identity and state legitimacy or the needs of an expanding art market. This conference aspires to explore yet another, less studied dimension: the extent to which the historical study of art was also rooted in an intention to inform contemporary artistic production.

North American Studies in France and Europe
State of the Art and Future Prospects
In 1980, François Furet established the first visiting chair in North American studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in partnership with the French-American Foundation. Yet, it was not until 1984 and the election of Jean Heffer as permanent full professor that the Center for North American Studies (CENA) came into being. Despite pioneering efforts in some English departments and the creation of the first university chair in North American history at the Sorbonne in 1967, there was significant disparity between the importance of the USA in the contemporary world and the weakness of North American studies in France. Over the last thirty years and under the supervision of Jean Heffer and François Weil, the CENA has become one of the leading institutions for North American scholarship in France and Europe.

Além disso, as pesquisas nos Estudos da Tradução no Brasil têm assumido um caráter sempre mais transdisciplinar com contribuições advindas da Antropologia, da Crítica Genética, da História Social e Política, da Sociologia, entre outras disciplinas. Convidamos todos os tradutores e os pesquisadores brasileiros, que atuam nesses âmbitos de reflexão e produção, a enviarem seus trabalhos para este número temático da nossa revista voltado aos Estudos da Tradução no Brasil.

Mathilde Bourrier): « Organizing, Communicating, and Costing in Risk Governance: Learning Lessons from the H1N1 Pandemic ». Il/Elle travaillera plus particulièrement sur les deux composantes du projet portant sur les facteurs organisationnels et communicationnels de la gestion de la pandémie, en Suisse, aux États-Unis et au Japon. La personne recherchée a obtenu son doctorat en sociologie ou en anthropologie depuis moins de 3 ans, d'excellentes capacités à mener des terrains de recherche dans plusieurs pays, et d'un intérêt marqué pour les questions de santé globale (global health).

Les « Journées des jeunes américanistes (JJA) », organisées par le Centre d’études mexicaines et centraméricaines, le Collège franco-mexicain en sciences sociales, l’Institut français d’Amérique centrale, l’Institut de recherche pour le développement et l’Institut des Amériques, sont une rencontre annuelle qui ouvre un espace de discussion, interaction et construction méthodologique dans un cadre scientifique international. C’est un espace de travail et d’échange adressé aux étudiants qui se trouvent dans leur recherche de thèse de licence, maîtrise et doctorat en sciences sociales.

Enjeux académiques et scientifiques dans les pays en développement
Este Coloquio Internacional pretende reunir en México, lugar emblemático de encuentros de ideas y situado en el cruce de las Américas, a investigadores de todas las disciplinas y los invita a que presenten trabajos sobre la circulación internacional de saberes entre los países del norte (industrializados) y los del sur (en desarrollo). Con esos propósitos, busca abrir un espacio de diálogo para dar cuenta de cómo se tejen las colaboraciones internacionales entre lugares distantes y distintos, por su posición geográfica, su lengua, su historia y sus ubicaciones en un universo de producción científica globalizado. Entre las temáticas atendidas, sobresaldrá en particular la manera en que estas relaciones se inscriben en las tradiciones de cooperación disciplinaria, algunas consolidadas desde hace más de un siglo, o rompen con ellas. Asimismo, nos interesará establecer las formas en que las prioridades de la cooperación internacional en investigación han sido influenciadas por los procedimientos de garantía de calidad, aplicados desde hace casi dos décadas, y por la homogeneización creciente de los valores y parametros científicos, auspiciada desde hace unos quince años, por los organismos rectores en los campos científicos nacionales. En esta perspectiva, analizaremos las continuidades y las fracturas que en diversas disciplinas han caracterizado las cooperaciones intelectuales, cuyas modalidades de ejercicio oscilan entre la reciprocidad y la dependencia. -
