  Landscapes

  The “Landscapes” edition of dearq academic journal invites participants to reflect on what has globally been, principally since the beginning of the twentieth century, the evolution of the concept of landscape; the relevant methods of analysis; the methods of representation, of evaluation, and of teaching. This takes into consideration how the concept is a practical project tool that can be used for land-use planning, what landscape’s level of influence has been on the public policy decision-making process, what instruments and regulations have been used, and also how “landscape” and “territory” coexist.

  Waste Sciences, Knowledges and Practices

  European, North and Latin American perspectives

  Waste has emerged as a main environmental, economic and social issue in the last fifty years. The convergence of interests from various fields of reflection and action suggests a potential and fruitful “epistemological turn”. Yet this process is still on the verge of formalization. Research and decision on waste organizational and representational systems remain either fragmented or dependent on local context though some waste management recommendations arise from worries on the global consequences of discard. Hence this international symposium aims at opening transatlantic conversations between academic, technical and artistic areas in order to clarify how waste challenges our everyday sciences, knowledges and practices.

  Destruction and Conservation in debate : Brazil's environmental history in a global perspective

  Ce workshop europeén vise à la fois à réaliser un état des lieux de l'histoire environnementale brésilienne et à discuter des nouvelles perspectives qui se présentent à ce champ d’études. La discipline de l’histoire environnementale y sera envisagée au sens large, impliquant tout à la fois les études sur les représentations, les politiques, et les changements matériels qui résultent de l'interaction entre « humains » et « non-humains ».
