  The Vulnerability and Marginality of Youth in the Mediterranean Basin (19th-20th centuries)

  French Journal for the History of “Unconventional” Childhood

  The Revue d’histoire de l’enfance “irrégulière” (the French Journal for the History of “Unconventional” Childhood) will devote its next issue to the different perceptions and management policies focused on irregular or marginal youth in the countries of the Mediterranean basin (i.e. the northern coast of the Mediterranean, the Middle East, the Mashriq and the Maghreb) throughout the 19^th and 20^th centuries. Specifically, we expect that the study of the public policies adopted by the countries of the region to deal with their youth will put the hypothesis of the unity and singularity of the Mediterranean to the test: either it will allow some sort of shared approach to emerge or, on the contrary, it will expose the Mediterranean as a cultural and ideological construct.

  Comparative approaches, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco

  Le colloque s’adresse aux enseignants-chercheurs, aux étudiants et aux décideurs publics qui s’intéressent, dans une perspective comparative, au chômage des jeunes diplômés au Maghreb. Il a pour objectif de jeter des regards croisés à la fois par la diversité des pays, du panel et par les méthodologies d'approches : économique, sociologique, juridique. Ainsi, il constituera une occasion d'aborder un certain nombre de questions s'articulant autour de l'insertion des jeunes diplômés, des trajectoires et des expériences vécues du chômage, les politiques publiques d'emploi et les formes de mobilisation des chômeurs.

  Inhabitation and growing old. A society for all ages?

  What articulations between researchers, experts, and social actors in the field of the politics of old age?

  La question de la vieillesse et du vieillissement reste enfermée, en France particulièrement, dans une approche exogène (c’est-à-dire institutionnelle ou représentative plus qu’en prise directe sur les intéressé-e-s eux mêmes) et palliative (en termes d’adaptation à une situation définie d’abord comme problématique : la vieillesse comme problème social). Le dialogue entre des interlocuteurs (chercheurs, experts et professionnels) appartenant à des institutions et à des secteurs différents (santé, action sociale, urbanisme, culture…) a du mal à s’instaurer. Les projets et tentatives d’échanges existent cependant et sont de plus en plus reconnus comme nécessaires de part et d’autre, dans un contexte sociétal où le vieillissement est devenu une question publique.
