  Sedition and Revolt in Modern European Political Thought

  As part of the ANR project “Cultures of Revolts and revolutions in Europe”, we wish to bring together international contributors in a discussion of the european political thought brought about by various uprisings between the end of the Middle Ages and the modern era, whether it be reflections over a particular event, or more general considerations over the causes of sedition and protest movements, the means to prevent or suppress new episodes, and their adverse – or regenerative – effects.

  Militantism and Re-Compositions in Latin America

  Re-composition of Militantism, Militant Trajectories and Constructions of Political Elites

  This dossier aims to reflect equally on two issues central to the political reconfiguration of formerly militant activism in the most recent period of Latin American history. The first concerns the phenomena of political transformation of former militants and the networks and routes used by former militant actors to politically transform themselves. Many of these have been structured around the strategic positioning of radical political commitments, in addition to the development and integration of new generations of activists into partisan life. The notion of re-composition (translated from the French reconversion) seems appropriate in order to elaborate specifically the political landscape of formal and state connections in different cultural contexts of militantism. The second issue concerns the reconfiguration of militancy in societies that have undergone neoliberal reforms imposed in the last decades of the past century and the development of new approaches to the resistance to the neoliberal state.

  Ce colloque se propose d’étudier l’état actuel, des années 1970 à nos jours, des questionnements sur l’américanité, saisie dans un sens à la fois local, national et transcontinental. Le continent américain a été et reste un pôle attractif pour des populations/des individus en quête d’un monde nouveau et meilleur, qu’il a acceptés et refoulés tout au long de son histoire. Comment l’américanité, réelle ou mythique, accueillante ou exclusive, opère-t-elle en tant que critère d’une recherche identitaire dans la réélaboration constante et l’évolution des visions culturelles de l’Amérique du nord et de l’Amérique latine ?

  Thinking rights in Latin America in the 20th century

  This conference purports to think about the right-wing in twentieth-century Latin America. We shall seek to discover whether the current Latin American right-wing movements are merely the prolongation of XIXth century conservatism, or if a series of events might explain the emergence of new actors in the XXth century. This will enable us to enquire into which geographical scale - national or continental - is relevant when examining this concept. We expect papers from scholars in various social sciences, based on monographic and comparative historical examples. Our purpose is to historicize the concept and the object.

  Cet appel à articles vise à faire réfléchir sur les dernières évolutions perceptibles du rôle des États et de la place des collectivités locales dans un contexte de contraction des finances publiques. Après de longues décennies de montée en puissance des collectivités infra étatiques dans la plupart des pays deux tendances se dessinent. La première s’appuie sur une remise en cause de cette multiplication d’échelons plus ou moins indépendants au nom du renouveau d’une certaine forme de légitimité technique et d’une volonté de limiter le coût de l’action publique. À l’inverse, la seconde renvoie à la volonté d’États désargentés de se décharger encore davantage sur les collectivités locales. L’exemple français n’est pas isolé.

  Present day Chile. Governance and resistance in a neo-liberal society (1998-2013)

  From the Pinochet case to the government of S. Piñera (1998-2013)

  L'investiture de Sebastián Piñera à la Présidence de la République chilienne, le 11 mars 2010, marque le retour de la droite à la tête du pouvoir exécutif, vingt ans après la fin négociée de la dictature militaire du Général Pinochet. Configurée par 40 ans de luttes, parfois mythifiées ou méconnues (l'Unité populaire, la Dictature, la Transition démocratique), cette nouvelle inflexion dans l'histoire politique chilienne pousse à s'interroger sur les réalités, les transformations et les continuités de ce pays tantôt présenté comme « modèle », tantôt comme « laboratoire », du néolibéralisme et de la société de marché en Amérique latine. Qu’elle soit héritée de l'histoire contemporaine ou issue de changements plus récents, une série de problèmes traverse les relations spécifiques entre néolibéralisme, démocratisation, techniques de pouvoir, résistances collectives et société. L'objectif de ce colloque international est de se pencher, dans une perspective ouverte et transdisciplinaire, sur les dynamiques du Chili actuel, depuis le procès du Général Pinochet en 1998 jusqu’à nos jours.
