Health: New Challenges for Development
« Revue internationale des études du développement », n°247 (2021-3)
A call for papers on health and development cannot but mention the current pandemic crisis. While international aid in the health sector has been rather stagnant of late, the Covid-19 pandemic could put health and infectious diseasesback at the heart of long-run priorities, particularly in countries of the South. While the African continent remains relatively unaffected, low-income countries share several characteristics: fragile and poorly funded healthcare systems that currently seem to be coping nonetheless, as well as a significant burden due to endemic health problems, including non communicable diseases. An integrated, unified approach to public and environmental health at different scales therefore seems more necessary than ever, especially in the context of climate change. This global crisis therefore provides new opportunities to better interlink the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and rethink the health and development nexus.

Images of the Equator - international exports / Equatorial representations internationally
Les tortues des Îles Galapagos, les têtes réduites de Jivaro, les neiges éternelles du Chimborazo, les chapeaux Panama… Autant de symboles mondialement connus qui ont pour point commun de venir d'Équateur. Ils interrogent les dynamiques de circulations internationales des idées, des personnes, des objets, questionnent l'exportation de la culture équatorienne à travers le monde et les processus de construction d'imaginaires sur l'Équateur dans le monde. À l'inverse, ils invitent également à s'intéresser à la manière dont ils sont perçus en Équateur, loin des arènes internationales. Ces dynamiques seront l'objet de la journée d'étude consacrée à l'Équateur et le monde. Comment l'Équateur s'expose sur la scène internationale ? Comment des mouvements internationaux ou transnationaux sont-ils appropriés, traduits, adaptés en Équateur ? Comment circulent les objets et les personnes équatorien.nes à travers le monde ? Afin de répondre à ces questions, nous proposons d'organiser la journée en trois tables rondes.

Dans le sens contraire, à partir du Mexique, commerçants, financiers, diplomates et étudiants, artistes et écrivains ont voyagé puis laissé des traces, des textes et des images diverses sur l’expérience vécue dans le pays d’accueil, l’expérience de l’identité étrangère, la xénophobie ou l’extranéité. Les correspondances, les journaux de bord, les écrits intimes ou publics sont les principales sources explorées à l’occasion du colloque comme expressions d’expériences individuelles et collectives transatlantiques entre le Mexique, l’Amérique centrale et l’Europe.

Contributions of articles for electronic journal Verbum et Lingua
The electronic magazine Verbum et Lingua: Didáctica, lengua y cultura will dedicate its 16th edition (July-December 2020) to the topic of Chican@s studies. Grosso modo, for Ornelas, Ramírez and Padilla (1975), the Chican@s studies have made a great effort to integrate four main constructs: race, class, culture and gender/sexuality. These constructs are present in the work of different artists who express their ideology in order to politicize and lead their community(ies) to change. According to Macias (2018), the Chican@s field of study seeks to make research holistic and multidisciplinary, as well as inclusive, comparative, grounded, up-to-date and critical. At the same time, it seeks to apply the results to social justice, education, as well as to the change of the global Chican@ communities.

Migraciones e Independencias: dos siglos de testimonios y representaciones entre México, Centroamérica, España y Francia, 1820-2020
La ville de Bordeaux a été le point de départ de milliers d’émigrants vers l’Amérique latine. Dans le sens contraire, du Mexique, commerçants, financiers, diplomates et étudiants, artistes et écrivains ont voyagé puis laissé des traces, des textes et des images diverses sur l’expérience vécue dans le pays d’accueil, l’expérience de l’identité étrangère, la xénophobie ou l’extranéité. Les recherches proposées en réponse à cet appel à communication porteront sur les parcours migratoires, les expériences de voyage et les séjours entre le Mexique et l’Amérique centrale et d’autre part, l’Espagne ou la France, tout au long des deux siècles depuis les indépendances jusqu’à nos jours. Des résumés pourront aussi être proposés sur l’histoire des politiques migratoires mises en œuvre depuis le XIXe siècle, l’installation des Espagnols Américains dans le sud-ouest de la France à la fin de la Guerre d’Indépendance (1810-1821)...

Mexican perspectives of France and the United States, 1821-1950
Le colloque programmé vise à analyser les représentations des voyageurs mexicains sur l'autre monde, la France et les États-Unis, pays visités par d'innombrables personnalités politiques et intellectuelles, ainsi que par des témoins anonymes, depuis l'indépendance du Mexique au milieu du XXe siècle. Nous tenterons de déchiffrer ces témoignages mexicains à caractère privé et intime (épistolaires, mémoires, journaux intimes...) sans exclure les chroniques et documents publiés dans la presse sur le monde français et américain entre 1821 et 1950. Comment ces voyageurs, touristes cosmopolites, exilés politiques, artistes en herbe, diplomates ont-ils transcrit leur vision de l'autre, français ou américain ?

Care, inequalities, and policies in the South
Revue internationale des études du développement
The aim of this issue is, in a journal focused on development, to gather works presenting the issue of care, which lies at the intersection of the division of labor in care (taken in its broad acception, including paid and unpaid work and taking into account its intrinsic complexity) and of the social organization of care in countries of the South. This issue will favor an interdisciplinary approach. Authors from all the social and human sciences may submit papers. Authors should explore care work and social organization through local, national, international, and transnational analyses. The contextualization of empirical studies and original corpuses, and the combination of a sound theoretical approach and fieldwork are expected.

Le XXXIX congrès de la Société des hispanistes français se tiendra à l'université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour du 6 au 8 juin 2019. Il aura pour thème Frontières dans le monde ibérique et ibéro-américain. Il s’agira d’observer et d’analyser comment se manifestent les pratiques et les conceptions de la frontière dans les mondes ibériques et ibéro-américains. Quelles en sont les spécificités et les évolutions au cours des siècles et/ou au sein des territoires hispano/lusophones dans leur diversité ? Ces spécificités, si elles existent, conduisent-elles à renouveler les réflexions sur la notion de frontière ?

Particolare attenzione sarà attribuita alle fonti documentarie inedite o poco studiate in grado di aiutarci ad aprire nuovi percorsi di ricerca per capire la funzione pastorale ed evangelizzatrice della Chiesa, ma anche le luci e le ombre di un clero non sempre orientato al bene dei poveri. Sarà importante analizzare come la Chiesa, attraverso le sue strutture, si sia organizzata e radicata nella società sia in Europa sia in America Latina.

The event’s goal is to put together researchers and experts from various countries to discuss the issue of migration in conjunction with the field of social communication, cultural theories, border studies and within the framework of notions such as politics, democracy and citizenship.

Heterogeneous human settlements, legacies of the colonial era, refuge of the disadvantaged and homeless, mixed and fragmented, and the showcases of Caribbean tourism, the urban Caribbean presents itself as the economic ambition of these insular territories and other shores bathed by the Caribbean sea. The Caribbean city, a chaotic juxtaposition of modernity and the colonial past, and existing both as a social and political symbol, opens up a rich and immense new area. Sometimes characterized by European allure, the remainder of Africa - some may say -, American city - without a doubt -, hybrid format, the Caribbean city presents a particular subject of study.

Ainsi, nous nous interrogerons sur la façon dont la famille décide et élabore le projet migratoire. Nous axerons la réflexion sur les effets du processus migratoire sur les sociétés d’origine : quels sont en définitive les avantages et les coûts de la migration pour l’unité familiale ? Nous nous intéresserons aux migrants dans les sociétés de réception : quelles sont les dimensions de leur intégration, en tant qu’individu ou/et groupe familial ? Migrants and access to the city
Revue « Espaces et Sociétés »
Recently, the scale of migration has generated strong images and speech that on one hand incite an urge to situate these events in academic debates, and also to participate in their objectification. This issue of E & S concerns access to the city by migrants, considering such access as an intermediate step between the flow of migration and registration (one time, temporary or permanent) of people in specific spaces. We expect proposals from those hoping to analyze the materiality of access points, technologies that accompany these processes, objects that materialize migratory situations, and finally, the temporal dimension of space. Empirical research from so-called “developing” countries will be valued highly and will be conducive to the renewal of analytical and operational framework categories, often forged in the North.

L’Afrique subsaharienne et l’Amérique latine sont liées de façon historique par le commerce triangulaire qui a fait déporter vers l’Amérique des millions d’individus arrachés à leurs terres ancestrales. Cette transplantation sur un continent nouveau, mal vécu par les esclaves, a permis de donner naissance à une culture spécifique, résurgence de la culture africaine et d’autres formes de cultures avec lesquelles les esclaves ont été mis en contact. Ce colloque entend donc questionner des notions de mémoire(s) et d'identité(s) en Afrique subsaharienne et en Amérique latine.

The aim of this conference, celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of MIGRINTER, is to examine the contribution of migration studies to human and social sciences at large. It will feature panels bringing forward some of the scientific domains that have addressed issues pertaining to international migration: the production of cities; the relation of politics to migration and of migrants to politics; history beneath and beyond nations; literature in/of exile.
