Americas Institute - Call for doctoral contracts (2021-2024)
Afin de soutenir des actions de coopération internationale dans le domaine universitaire et scientifique, chaque année des contrats doctoraux sont attribués par le ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l’Innovation (M.E.S.R.I) au titre du partenariat avec l’Institut des Amériques (IdA). Dans ce cadre, l'Institut des Amériques lance un appel à candidature pour les cinq contrats doctoraux qui seront attribués pour la période universitaire 2021-2024.

The journal aims to improve understanding of the issues, conditions and impact of mobility in order to encourage its consideration by the researchers and political decision-makers who have the authority to support it. The ultimate purpose of the International Congress on Desert Economy – Dakhla, is to be a scientific and multidisciplinary platform on desert and Sahara economy development, in order to contribute effectively to the good governance and in the sustainable development of desert regions, by stimulating meetings between all stakeholders on a global scale, with a view to fostering cooperation and partnership, among (Sahara) desert countries (Africa, the Gulf States, the United States of America, China, Australia...), with the aim of creating a conducive environment to the exchange of experiences, expertise and innovation, around themes related to desert and Sahara economy development, such as: Tourism and travel industry, agriculture, renewable energy, raw materials, transportation and logistics, sea and ocean economy, technology and innovation, entertainment and sport economy, cultural and intangible heritage, nature and environment.

5th congress of the International Ergology Society
La démarche de l’ergologie offre-t-elle une approche pertinente dans le champ des questions intégrant le travail, le patrimoine et le développement ? Dans quelle mesure sa contribution est-elle singulière et innovante ? Afin d’établir un bilan et de tracer des perspectives, le principal objectif du cinquième congrès de la Société internationale d’ergologie (SIE) est de mettre en débats, au cours de trois journées, les travaux qui, en plusieurs lieux du monde, ont fait l’option de s’engager dans cette réflexion, tout en ayant parfois privilégié auparavant d’autres cadres de référence. La diversité des approches constituera un atout essentiel de cette rencontre qui se veut donc pluridisciplinaire.

La quête d’une société inclusive dépasse la seule question des aînés et rejoint le rapport des sociétés contemporaines à la diversité. Si le vieillissement des individus et des populations peut induire des spécificités dans les rapports à autrui et à l’environnement, il n’est pas appréhendé ici comme un phénomène hermétique aux autres données, souvent cumulatives, reliées aux processus d’exclusion tels le genre, les situations de handicap, l’origine ethnique, ou encore le niveau socio-économique. Une société inclusive pose d’emblée la question de l’Autre différent. Dans le cadre de son VIe colloque mondial, le REIACTIS invite les chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales, les décideurs politiques et les citoyens à se réunir sur la scène internationale pour mettre en débat et baliser les enjeux d’une société inclusive.

Population, time, territories (CIST2020)
Le Ve colloque du Collège international des sciences territoriales (CIST2020) - qui se tiendra du 19 au 21 novembre 2020 sur le campus Condorcet, Paris-Aubervilliers - se propose d’aborder les enjeux théoriques, méthodologiques et pratiques soulevés par la prise en compte simultanée de la population, du temps et des territoires. Ces enjeux portent notamment sur deux défis : (1) l’agrégation des actions individuelles ou des attributs des individus au sein d’une population sur un territoire, et (2) l’intégration de la dimension temporelle dans la dynamique des populations (humaines et/ou animales) et de leurs inscriptions territoriales, à différentes échelles.

The First World War in the Caribbean - publication of a collective work

Le livre sera consacré à l'impact de la première guerre mondiale dans les Antilles. La première guerre mondiale a donné lieu à un grand nombre de recherches universitaires. Elle représente une rupture fondamentale dans l’histoire du XXème siècle. Comme le signale George-Henri Soutou la Grande Guerre a été la « matrice du XXème siècle ». Même des territoires très éloignés des tranchées et des champs de bataille européens furent durablement ébranlés par les conséquences de ce conflit. L’Australie commémore toujours la bataille de Gallipoli, au Canada les batailles de Vimy ou de Passchendaele font partie de la mémoire collective, des historiens ont montré quels ont été les implications de cette guerre dans les colonies africaines et asiatiques. En revanche, la mémoire des pays latino-américains était jusqu’à récemment incomplète.

Call for papers about Henri Lefebvre and his work
Le colloque Henri Lefebvre : Une pensée devenue monde, organisé à l’Université Paris Ouest-Nanterre en 2011 en est une autre manifestation. Toutefois cet intérêt est assez relatif, puisque le peu de chercheur-e-s qui s’y intéressent sont souvent des philosophes. A l’exception de quelques figures, comme Jean-Pierre Garnier, qui mobilise explicitement cet auteur dans la majorité de ses travaux en sociologie urbaine, les sciences sociales semblent globalement continuer de l’ignorer. Même dans la géographie critique, Lefebvre n’est pas toujours cité comme une référence au contraire de David Harvey et Edward Soja, qui pourtant revendiquent une filiation directe aux chantiers conceptuels ouverts par Lefebvre. Cela peut s’expliquer par des divergences méthodologiques, épistémologiques, mais également politiques quant à l’appropriation du corpus.

Reprendre un emploi après un accident du travail constitue un objet de recherche et d'intervention dont les analyses méritent une diffusion plus large. C'est la finalité de ce dossier préparé pour la revue Laboreal (laboreal.up.pt) par une équipe de chercheurs, psychologues et sociologues du travail portugais. Ce dossier doit en outre permettre d'identifier de nouvelles formes d'intervention dans et en dehors des entreprises, à différents niveaux, et en prenant en compte les questions touchant à l'amélioration des conditions de travail ainsi qu'à toutes les formes de soutien (individuel, collectif et institutionnel) qui permettraient à la victime d'un accident du travail de retrouver une vie active décente.

For the last 10 years, the Institut des hautes études de l’Amérique latine (IHEAL) gives some of his university chairs to researchers specialized in social sciences on the Latin American area. Created thanks to the Secretary of Higher Education and Researcg of France; these chairs are destined to help in the collaboration between Europe and Latin America; allowing the IHEAL to create links with many latinamerican universities and consolidate a vast academic network.

The 5th international congress “Sport, doping and society” is organized by the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Under the theme “Think Clean”, there will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport from the specific perspective of Human and Social Sciences. We believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.

Elle modifie les relations entre les espaces, les institutions, les entreprises et les individus et entraîne notamment une transformation radicale des liens des périphéries avec d'autres lieux. Les flux de toutes natures que ces relations déclenchent, les stratégies des acteurs qui sont au centre de ces dynamiques, les territoires institutionnels, politiques ou identitaires que construisent ou renforcent ces reconfigurations et les dissymétries sociales et économiques qu’elles génèrent ont été étudiés par le programme collectif de recherche Périmarge : « Périphéries, marges : interpréter les relations aux centres dans la mondialisation », financé par l’ANR sur l’appel « Métamorphoses des sociétés : Inégalité-Inégalités ».

Call for papers - Urban studies
The cities of urban research have long been and still are widely today, the "great cities". But the realities of urban are not limited to them. In France for example the small and medium-sized cities house more than a quarter of the population. What does the observation of these cities bring to knowledge of the urban phenomenon? On the other hand, in the research devoted to major metropoles, it is often very specific neighborhoods that are the subject of attention of research as well as the media: social housing developments or the central gentrified neighborhoods. But more "ordinary" neighbourhoods are not often the focus. What does the observation of these neighbourhoods that we do not talk about "say" about the city? In other words, we would like to call on work that offers openings of the typologies of cities as the typologies of neighbourhoods that are subjacent to the discourse and debates on the urban.

Vie et survie dans le Venezuela contemporain
La cinquième journée d’étude du GEIVEN (Groupe d’étude interdisciplinaires sur le Venezuela) portera, plus particulièrement sur les stratégies de survivance. Ces stratégies de survivance auxquelles les différents acteurs vénézuéliens ont recours pour gérer les imprévus de la vie quotidienne, prennent plusieurs formes (migration et déplacement de population à l’échelle régionale, nationale ou internationale, le recours à d’autres modes de communication, l’organisation de groupes et d’association, etc). L’enjeu de cette journée d’étude sera donc d’ouvrir le champ théorique à plusieurs disciplines, telles que l’histoire, la géographie, l’anthropologie, la sociologie, le droit, l’art, les sciences du langage, la science politique entre autres, afin de favoriser les échanges transdisciplinaires et comprendre les dimensions multiples que prennent ces stratégies de survivance dans le cas particulier du Venezuela.

Luxury in all its States: Foundations, Dynamic and Plurality
This issue of “Revues Etudes Caribéennes” aims to reflect upon the concept of luxury, to invest the luxury in all its states. It comes to question the foundations of luxury, from the theory to the materiality, from the manufacture to the consumption, between provocative distinction and aesthetization in all walk of life. Within the context of this thematic issue, luxury is envisaged a multidisciplinary approach, ranging from philosophy to sociology, from the economy to the development of the territory... Imputs may approach luxury a specific angle (economics of luxury, the luxury throughout history). They can treat a particular dimension of luxury, through an emblematic product or construction of luxury territories. Special attention will be paid to the luxury industry with its brands and its logic of creation and production. Finally, luxury exist through the construction of its legends which are formed from many distinctive indicators that stimulate both the casual and the exclusive consumers.
