  The Hydraulics in Monumental Buildings

  The hydraulic system is an architectural subsystem that can only be understood in view of the dual constitution of its structure: one at ground level, that referrers to potable water (lower hydraulic subsystem), and other concerning rainwater (upper hydraulic subsystem). They both involve aspects of major importance for the functioning of any building: catchment, distribution and evacuation of the waters. In the last decade, research was carried out on the hydraulic component of historical architecture, either religious or civil, considering technical and artistic issues, not only in Portugal, but throughout Europe.

  El número «Paisajes»de la revista Dearq invita a reflexionar sobre cuál ha sido en el mundo, principalmente desde inicios del siglo XXI, la evolución del concepto de paisaje, sus modos de análisis, de medición, de representación y de enseñanza; como herramienta práctica proyectual para el ordenamiento del territorio, cuál ha sido el grado de influencia del paisaje en la toma de decisiones de política pública, bajo qué instrumentos y normativas; y cómo «paisaje» y «territorio» coexisten.

  The study and design of landscape as a methodological problem

  First Iberian Colloquium on Landscape

  Landscapes present themselves as sceneries we have inherited, where we live, and from where we draw the resources needed to subsist as a civilisation and as a species. The result of our actions on this heritage will be the legacy to our descendants. In the beginning of the third millennium, the interest in the topic of landscape is increasingly important, transforming this discipline in a research platform where several fields of knowledge intersect. The aim of this colloquium is to reflect about the diversity of multidisciplinary aspects, analytical methods, and intervention techniques related to the study of landscape, establishing a forum focused on the future relationship between humanity and landscape.

  Public Art: Place, Context, Participation

  The Instituto de história da arte, Faculdade de ciências sociais e humanas, universidade Nova de Lisboa is organising the International conference « Public Art: Place, Context, Participation », taking place on 23 and 24 October 2015 at Fabrica Santo Thyrso, in Santo Tirso, based on a proposal by the city council of Santo Tirso. The conference is linked to a reflection on the works developed since 1991 by the international symposia on contemporary sculpture, headed by sculptor Alberto Carneiro and professor and art critic Gérard Xuriguera, whose tenth and final edition, currently ongoing, will allow the conclusion of the International museum of contemporary sculpture of Santo Tirso.

  Palaces and Urban Dynamics: Centers of power and knowledge in Europe

  Palácios e dinâmicas urbanas: centros de poder e de conhecimento na Europa

  The European palaces established more than mere residences of monarchs, princes, cardinals, aristocrats and bourgeois. They were centers of power, solid social and political symbols, and also production centers for culture, arts and science. On the other hand, they played a fundamental role by motivating the renovation and expansion of cities. In a broad sense, we can consider the palace as a center that marked not only the inner spaces, but also its surroundings. Starting from this premise and taking the opportunity of the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the construction of the so called Palácio de D. Manuel in Évora, this is the ideal context for organizing this international conference.

  Semiótica del espacio

  Coloquio Luso-Brasileño

  Tenemos el honor de invitar la comunidad científica a participar en el Coloquio Luso-brasileño bajo al tema "Semiótica del Espacio". El evento transcurrirá entre los días 5 y 7 de Septiembre de 2013, en las instalaciones de la Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, siendo los idiomas oficiales del coloquio, el portugués y el español.           Le invitamos a visitar la página web del evento (http://www.semiotica-espaco.tk) para obtener más información sobre el coloquio. Las propuestas de ponencias deben enviarse antes del 15 de julio de 2013 directamente en el sitio del coloquio.
