Feminisms and ARTivism in the Americas (20th-21st centuries)

Les féminismes contre-hégémoniques sont globalement peu connus en France. La théorie et l’action des femmes états-uniennes – connu sous le nom de black feminism – suscite certes un intérêt croissant chez les chercheur·e·s depuis la fin du XX^e siècle. En revanche, les apports théoriques et les formes de mobilisation des autres régions américaines sont beaucoup moins visibilisés. Envisagé dans une perspective comparative et pluridisciplinaire, ce colloque voudrait approfondir la connaissance de ces mouvements en France. En s’attachant à la pluralité et à la force de leur action, la réflexion portera sur les caractères spécifiques et leur contribution à la lutte contre les oppressions de classe, de race, de genre et de sexualité. Une attention toute particulière sera portée à l’étude de la pluralité des mobilisations notamment celle qui envisage l’art comme forme de lutte.

Poétiques et politiques du corps dans la contemporanéité

Contemporary poetics and politics of thee body

From a comparing and transversal perspective, gathering different theoretical and artistic subjects, this congress aims at opening an interdisciplinary dialog, as well as putting into play the different questions that contemporaneity asks about the body. Knowing their territorial cultural differences, each historical period produces a different concept of body and person, which is intimately connected to what goes around on the artistic, theoretical, technological, social, politic and economic fields that sustain it. From an interdisciplinary point of view, this meeting intends to propose and get on the tracks of an investigation that can favour understanding the construction of corporality in our contemporary context.

Another Music in a Different Room

Resulting from a series of developed works in the last decade within the framework of social sciences (namely Sociology of Culture, Sociology of Arts, Sociology of Youth, Urban Sociology and Sociology of Music), in this advanced seminar we will have the opportunity of deepening the understanding around the importance, functioning, process, the agents, characteristics, genres and subgenres of the current urban music scenes. The ANOTHER MUSIC IN A DIFFERENT ROOM will be a fruitful space for ideas, discussions and, therefore, for a great developments on scientific knowledge. So, it’s our intention to share all this scientific dynamic with the world in order to contribute to a larger debate on music, youth, lifestyles, culture, cultural scenes, music scenes. In this context, the ideas and discussions held in the Advanced Seminar, both by lecturers and participants, will be published in a Collaborative e-book.

The Conference Organizing Committee hereby announces its “Keep It Simple, Make It Fast! Underground music scenes and DIY cultures Conference” which will take place in Porto from 9 July to 11 July 2014. The organisation of the KISMIF Conference will be undertaken by the Research Project Keep It Simple, Make It Fast!.
