Problems, methodologies and historical sources from the Antiquity to the present day
The PhD students in History at the University of Pisa (Italy) are pleased to announce a call for papers for a three-days online seminar (December 10-11-12, 2020) concerning the multifaceted concept of identity and its many dimensions. The seminar aims to grasp the complexity and intersection of different affiliations and identity constructions throughout history. In this sense, we will share new methodological and epistemological approaches, with a diachronic, global and interdisciplinary perspective.

From ritual to myth: Carnival in European culture

Mountains and the collective management of the commons: influences and interactions
Ancestral collective ownership systems linked to village communities, sprouted from feudal law, used to correspond to an agrarian economy that was generally needed for self-subsistence (feeding). This economy gradually deteriorated for a variety of interconnected reasons. Nonetheless, these systems have managed to survive over time, which is rather surprising. Their presence is still strongly felt in rural areas – mainly in mountain regions (France, Italy and Switzerland, in particular). In a contemporary context of agricultural decline, the disappearance of landscapes, declining allocations from the state to communes and the urgent need to preserve natural resources and stimulate rural areas, one has to ask which roles these communities can play to develop the mountain territories in a sustainable way.

La deleuziana, a journal that desires
The schizoanalysis created by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari is critical-clinical. It is critical as it conjugates various knowledge and practices by freeing against all reductionism the transversality of the flows that trace a problematic. Schizoanalysis has profoundly influenced the practice of some important reference points in the social psychology of Argentina and Uruguay, and later in Brazil. However, this stimulating and favourable reception of schizoanalysis in South America is quite exceptional. Not only do we find nowhere else analysts who claim to be schizoanalysts, but even today it is largely ignored in clinical circles. It is in this perspective that this call for papers wishes to engage a presentation of the different theoretical and practical developments of schizoanalysis that currently affect the exercise of psychotherapy, although in reality this aspect is constantly overwhelmed. The aim is to identify the clinical perspectives that have proliferated in the wake of schizoanalysis to map emerging clinical practices.

Metamorphosis: the landslide of identity

Migration, circulations and Italianess (XIXth-XXIst) century
Since the end of the 19th century, Italian emigration to the rest of the world has become one of the most important migratory movements in contemporary history. Twenty-six million Italians left the Peninsula during the hundred years between the 1860s and the 1960s. More recently, since the beginning of the 2000s, a new wave of more skilled migrants has emerged. In Italy itself, as well as in countries of destination, this migration has proved to be a rich source for historical researchers, recently renewed by the circulatory and transnational approaches. This international and interdisciplinar conference intend to expand this reflexion and encourage further discussions on the interaction between the circulation of Italians around the world and their relationship with Italy from a cultural, rather than a political, perspective

Overlapping perspectives on the history of “ancient forests”
In ecological, economic and social terms, “ancient forests” play numerous roles. Their definition varies not only from country to country but also according to disciplinary fields. Studying “ancient forests” can involve separating “old-growth forests” from “ancient woodland”, forests that have disappeared and, in the case of “current forests”, those that are not actually very old at all! This conference aims to exchange views and ideas on “ancient forests” including both retrospective and prospective issues. Better understanding their past highlights the key issues of their status, protection and promotion in our current societies and opens up new perspectives about the future of « ancient forests ». Foresters, planners, developers, ecologists, biologists, agriculturalists, geographers, historians, philosophers, ethnologists, cartographers, archaeologists, archaeobotanists, sociologists etc., from all backgrounds, are invited to join this debate about our various and varying concepts of “ancient forests”.

Online Journal Argotica, Nr. 1 (5) /2016
This issue of Argotica is dedicated to the artisans of slang. We will refer to the authors who capitalized on the aesthetic virtues of slang (poets, novelists, reporters, lyricists, screenwriters and so on) as well as to the scholars who dedicated their efforts to the study of slang and, as such, drew the attention to less known aspects of slang formation and use

6th Ethnography and Qualitative Research Conference
The Conference embraces and endorses a broad, ambitious view of ethnographic research. Ethnography is understood as an inquiry into the processes, implications, and meanings of social life and culture in groups, organizations, and institutions across diverse social spaces and settings. Accordingly, contributions to the conference can be based on a variety of methods, including but not limited to participant observation, in-depth interviews, focus group, auto-ethnography, visual ethnography, discourse studies, video-based research and other forms of inquiry inspired and informed by ethnographic sensibility. The Conference welcomes theoretically informed and methodologically sound proposals that contribute to the substantive knowledge of the social world.

Conference, symposium - Thought
Spaces in action, actions in space

Between home, family and business
Unpaid family and work obligations for the market from the end of the Middle Ages to the contemporary era

VIth Mediterranean Congress of Aesthetics
Facts and Values in Aesthetics: Contemporary Stakes and Approaches
In a text entitled The Collapse of the Fact/Value Dichotomy and Other Essays (2004), Hilary Putnam argues convincingly against a classic opposition which does not serve philosophical reflection positively. Putnam’s analysis mostly focuses on the theory and practice of knowledge, but one can legitimately extend it to other fields, starting with that of aesthetics, which sooner or later is confronted with the question of whether one defends or rejects the dichotomy. Keeping or rejecting it implies reasons to do so, but often these reasons remain implicit, most especially in aesthetics.

Or how is work transformed through and in entertainment and entertainment is re-qualified as work

Dynamics of repopulation in mountain areas: new highlanders
Observing the recent situation of demographic trends in the Alps, it is possible to put in evidence an interesting turnround in some alpine territories, especially alpine marginal areas. This situation invests not only the Alps but in general the European mountain territories, where the effects of this turnround become evident: from requalification of old villages and the creation of technologic buildings, to implementation of different forms of tourism (green tourism, soft tourism), from experimentation of new services (through ICT solutions), to implementation of sustainable mobility policies and finally to creation of green entrepreneurial activities.
