  African Ivories

  In the Atlantic World, 1400-1900

  Since April 2015, the international team working on the project “African Ivories in the Atlantic World: a reassessment of Luso-African ivories” (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia: PTDC/EPH-PAT/1810/2014), composed of 27 researchers from the University of Lisbon, the University of Évora and the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil, has been researching the trade, circulation and production of raw and carved African ivory in the Atlantic area from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century. The team has identified and listed objects from Portuguese and Brazilian (Minas Gerais) collections, also collecting references and descriptions extant in written Portuguese sources. For the first time a selection of ivory pieces was subjected to lab tests with a view to helping establish their age and origin. The project research team has submitted proposals for re-interpreting material culture in the framework of its African contexts of production.

  El Encuentro se pretende realizar un estado de la cuestión de la historia de la diplomacia medieval, una temática en proceso de renovación metodológica. Para ello pondremos nuestra atención en aspectos como las nuevas tendencias historiográficas, la gran diversidad de fuentes disponibles (literatura, archivos, correspondencia...), la sociología de los protagonistas (eclesiásticos, nobles, letrados, mercaderes...) y los diversos contextos en los que se ejerció la diplomacia (papado, reinos, ciudades...).

  Socialismes africains | Socialismes en Afrique

  Les temps sont venus de donner aux socialismes africains et/ou aux socialismes en Afrique la place qui leur revient dans l’historiographie générale du socialisme et dans celle de l’Afrique. Les histoires du, des socialismes, qu’ils soient ou non « réels » oublient systématiquement l’Afrique. Or il a existé en Afrique de très nombreux régimes qui se sont réclamés du socialisme « africain », ou « scientifique », de même que de très nombreux opposants qui ont d’autant plus cherché leur inspiration dans les outils théoriques construits par le marxisme – ou sa vulgate –, que celui-ci leur semblait proposer une théorie de l’histoire favorable à l’avenir des peuples colonisés ou anciennement colonisés.

  Mobilisations collectives en Afrique : contestations, résistances et révoltes

  ECAS 2015 - 6e Conférence européenne des études africaines

  Après Lisbonne en 2013, la sixième conférence européenne des études africaines (ECAS-6) aura lieu à Paris du 8 au 10 juillet 2015, dans les locaux de l’université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Elle est organisée conjointement par l’Institut des mondes africains (IMAF) et Les Afriques dans le monde (LAM). ECAS-6 aura pour thème principal : Mobilisations collectives en Afrique : contestations, résistances et révoltes. Mais cette thématique n’est pas exclusive, le comité scientifique considérera également des propositions de panels sur d’autres domaines émergents et / ou plus classiques.

The Call for Papers of this Conference is open for presentations to all core areas of sociology, social sciences and also design, illustration, visual arts and performing arts. The KISMIF Conference Organizing Committee invites experienced and young scholars from various disciplines to participate in the conference.
