  The representation

  Les Cahiers d’études des cultures ibériques et latino-américaines (CECIL)

  The problem of representation is central to the disciplinary fields of all the human and social sciences, most often implicitly. This omnipresence sometimes makes us forget that it is a notion whose definition, status and function are subject to the fluctuations of history. What interests us is the discrepancy between what this notion has been able to encompass over time and what it encompasses nowadays, as well as the explanation that can be given to these discrepancies or possible ruptures. The reflection focuses in particular on the link between the notion of representation and the notions of 'heritage' - tangible or intangible objects, but also products of a social construction - and of 'memory', since it is constructed through concrete representations, whether social or discursive practices.

  Religious history of the Renaissance has, without a doubt, been one of the fields of predilection of historians in recent decades. Various sources have been used to develop the field (registers/proceedings of ecclesiastical institutions, of tribunals and of urban institutions; notarial registers; correspondences of princes and of their representatives, those of cities, of bourgeois and of theologians, diaries and memoirs of contemporaries; theological treaties; etc.).

  Knowledge and power in the Iberian peninsula in the Middle Ages

  Séminaire de recherche consacré à l’histoire culturelle de la péninsule Ibérique, chrétienne, islamique et juive du Moyen Âge. En 2013-2014, le séminaire poursuivra la recherche entamée sur la notion d’identité dans l’Espagne médiévale, sur la validité d’un tel concept, et sur l’existence d’une ou de plusieurs identités « hispaniques ». Ouvert à tous ceux qui s'intéressent à l'histoire de l'Espagne et du Portugal, le séminaire accueille aussi de nombreux spécialistes qui y font connaître leurs travaux.
