Heritage and Museography es una llamada a la valoración de estas propuestas que se han ido desarrollando a lo largo del 2020 desde que empezara la pandemia, abarcando tanto aquellas prácticas que han funcionado como aquellas que no, e incluyendo la reflexión sobre la sostenibilidad y viabilidad futura de los museos y equipamientos patrimoniales después de la pandemia.

  Before the Anthropocene: Medieval concepts of interdependent human-nature-relations

  Ces dernières années, l'histoire du climat et la climatologie historique se sont essentiellement concentrées sur les impacts économiques et sociaux des changements climatiques de long terme, comme ceux qui se sont produits pendant l'Anomalie climatique médiévale ou le Petit âge glaciaire. Néanmoins, les préoccupations contemporaines concernant le changement climatique global ont posé de nouvelles questions urgentes aux historiens du climat : Comment les sociétés du passé ont-elles perçu les périodes de changement climatique rapide ? Dans quelle mesure ont-elles été affectées, non seulement sur le plan économique, mais aussi dans leur réflexion sur la relation entre l'homme et la nature ?

  XIV Jornadas Complutenses de Arte Medieval

  Las XIV Jornadas Complutenses de Arte Medieval proponen centrar la mirada en la materialidad como factor esencial de la producción artística, así como en la poética de la inmaterialidad y en la dimensión intangible de la experiencia estética en los siglos medievales. Son bienvenidas las propuestas de comunicación en torno a los siguientes temas: condiciones materiales de la creación artística; prácticas y medios desatendidos; poéticas y usos semánticos de lo material y de lo intangible; historia cultural de los materiales; sensorialidad e inmaterialidad; “transmaterialidad” y “transmedialidad”.

  Sinophone musical worlds and their publics

  China Perspectives / Perspectives Chinoises

  Recent success of Chinese reality television singing competitions broadcasted on national television or streamed directly on the internet, has shown the extent of musical genres represented in the Chinese world, from pop to folk via hip-hop or rock ’n’ roll. The popularity of new musical styles up to then considered as deviant as well as the recent attempts of the State to intervene directly on musical contents, tend to blur the distinctions between “mainstream” (流行) music, “popular” (民间) music as non-official, “underground” (地下) music or even “alternative” (另类) music. This call for papers aims at promoting a better understanding of the transformations of Chinese “musical worlds”, in the sense that Becker gave to “art worlds”, which stresses the role of cooperation and interactions between the different actors of the artistic sphere.

  Black womanhood in popular culture

  De Gruyter Open topical issue

  In contemporary popular culture, black womanhood frequently takes centre stage. It occupies an increasingly central place and articulates new and renewed dimensions, prompting questions about the status of black women in the cultural imaginary of the United States and beyond. Most prominently, Michelle Obama's First Ladyship has sparked scholarly and media discussions around the significance of stereotypes associated with black women, the possibilities and limitations of public figures to create new images and anchor them in the cultural imaginary, and about the subject positions and images that express and shape constructions of black womanhood (cf. Harris-Perry 2011, Schäfer 2015, Spillers 2009).

  "Lesbian"/Female Same-Sex Sexualities in Africa

  Special Issue of the Journal of Lesbian Studies

  The multiple configurations of same-sex practices and relationships across the African continent, alongside the problematic notion of homosexual, “lesbian,” and “queer” identities in the African context, have been addressed by various scholarly publications in the past couple of decades. Yet same-sex interactions, relationships, and politics between African women have not garnered significant attention either in feminist/queer studies or in African studies, and remain largely unrepresented in academic writings. This special issue of the Journal of Lesbian Studies proposes to fill this scholarly gap by exploring this topic from a variety of cultural and disciplinary perspectives. Contributions by scholars on the African continent are particularly welcome.
