Cuando las mujeres filman: el documental en la peninsula iberica y en el continente latinoamericano
En una perspectiva transdisciplinaria, el presente coloquio apunta a repensar los marcos epistemológicos del análisis de la imagen documental. ¿Qué estrategias narrativas y qué estéticas han sido implementadas para llevar a la pantalla temas prohibidos o eludir la censura? ¿Qué papel han jugado los colectivos de mujeres en la organización de la producción? ¿Qué ha pasado con ellos? ¿Cómo han circulado o no las obras entre países culturalmente cercanos en los cuales imperan cadenas de televisión muy poderosas? ¿Cómo han contribuido de hecho determinadas películas al enriquecimiento y redefinición de la antropología cultural, en sociedades pluriétnicas? ¿Cómo pensar a gran escala la conservación, restauración y utilización de documentales hechos en soporte video, que pocas veces son objeto de políticas de conservación?

Herencia cultural y archivos de familia en los archipiélagos de la Macaronesia
En la última década, varias líneas de investigación en historia y archivística están lanzando sugerentes investigaciones acerca de la construcción de los archivos y de las fuentes históricas. Estas nuevas corrientes en el campo de la archivística histórica y la epistemología de la historia han planteado la revalorización de los archivos de familia, no sólo como repositorios de fuentes documentales alternativas a los archivos institucionales de la Iglesia y el Estado, sino también como objeto de estudio en sí mismos, debido al particular contexto de creación y transmisión del archivo familiar, construido al margen de los espacios formalizados del poder político-institucional de su tiempo. Esto hace de los archivos de familia un patrimonio común cuyo valor trasciende a la dimensión histórica y envuelve a toda la sociedad, pues resultan especialmente interesantes como expresión de identidades, memorias y discursos históricos plurales.

The Great War and the Azores: from naval strategy to trench warfare
This meeting aims to analyze the relationship of the Atlantic, with particular emphasis on the Azores, the complex logistical support to the belligerents, regardless of the stage of war being European or colonial, and the multiple dynamics involved, whether political, economic, ideological or geographical. Likewise, it seeks to value and dignify not only the memory of those who act as, but the material and immaterial heritage, in the year in which the bombing of the main Azorean city and the creation of a foreign naval base in its territory is evoked.

L'Europe et la « Guerre froide » : mutations et ruptures
Cinquième rencontre annuelle « L'Europe et le Monde »
Au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l’Europe est en pleine décadence. Au cours de cette période difficile, la confrontation entre les deux Europes ne cesse de s’accroître. Face à l’expansionnisme soviétique, les pays d’Europe occidentale se tournent vers les États-Unis qui leurs octroient de l’aide économique et de la protection militaire. La reconstruction de l’Europe fait alors l’objet de débats houleux. Sous la pression des mouvements européanistes, les débats prennent de l’élan surtout à partir de 1948 dans le but de rebâtir l’Europe et la paix en Europe. L’atmosphère de « Guerre froide » est très présente depuis 1946.

The October Revolution of 1917 was one of the most significant events of the modern era. Its historical meaning can be understood, on the one hand, within the narrative of previous revolutions – starting with the 1789 French Revolution – and of the rise of the labour movement in the nineteenth-century. On the other hand, 1917 also paved the way to several other twentieth-century events and phenomena, such as the Chinese Revolution or the post-colonial turn. On its hundredth anniversary, the Institute for Contemporary History organizes an international conference dedicated to the study and discussion of the October Revolution and its consequences.

O nome Humboldt evoca aqui tanto o objeto partilhado entre diversos trabalhos no âmbito das ciências da cultura, quanto o modelo de uma ciência transdisciplinar e transareal. Grupos de pesquisa que assumem para si o desafio transareal precisam contar não apenas com a competência intercultural dos pesquisadores e pesquisadoras em particular, mas também com a efetiva colaboração entre instituições, para além do intercâmbio bilateral.

Digital Humanities in Portugal: building bridges and breaking barriers in the digital age
Discussion about the role of the Humanities in academia and society has a long history. The confluence of this debate with the changes brought about by digital technology is not new either: one cannot speak of "new technologies" for the Humanities when many researchers turned to digital methods at least four decades ago, in disciplines as diverse as Linguistics, History or Literary Studies. The Conference “Digital Humanities in Portugal” aims precisely to stimulate these intersections, opening up a forum for discussion and sharing of research results or ongoing projects in this field of knowledge.

Décalages : vie et œuvre de José Rodrigues Miguéis
Lorsqu’il quitte le Portugal pour les États-Unis en 1935, José Rodrigues Miguéis (1901-1980) est un écrivain prometteur et un journaliste et militant politique reconnu, ancien membre du groupe Seara Nova, maintenant proche des communistes. À New-York, il poursuit ses activités militantes durant une dizaine d’années puis, après une grave maladie et une tentative infructueuse de retour définitif au Portugal, il finit par se consacrer pleinement à l’écriture. La majeure partie de son œuvre ne sera publiée en volume qu’à partir de 1958, à près de soixante ans, si bien que l’écrivain exilé se retrouve en décalage avec le Portugal (ses lecteurs, la société et la dictature en vigueur), mais aussi avec la vision du monde ayant présidé à l’écriture d’une grande partie de ses écrits inédits. C’est dans le cadre de ce parcours biobibliographique particulier que les communicants s’intéresseront à l’œuvre fictionnelle et non fictionnelle migueisienne. Alors que son œuvre est de plus en plus étudiée au Portugal, aux USA et au Brésil, ce premier colloque consacré à José Rodrigues Miguéis en France sera l’occasion de mieux faire connaître cette grande figure méconnue de l’histoire culturelle portugaise du XXe siècle.

The organisation of the KISMIF Conference will be undertaken by the Research Project Keep It Simple, Make It Fast!. The Call for Papers of this Conference is open for presentations to all core areas of sociology, social sciences and also design, illustration, visual arts and performing arts. The KISMIF Conference Organizing Committee invites experienced and young scholars from various disciplines to participate in the conference. The KISMIF Conference Organizing Committee would like the participants to know that the selected papers from the conference will be published in an edited collection by an international publisher.

This is a journal linked to the Europe Direct Information Centre of Aveiro, to Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the Twentieth Century, University of Coimbra - CEIS20, in partnership with the Office of the European Parliament in Portugal and with the Representation of European Commission in Portugal. The first International Conference of the Journal Debating Europe will be dedicated to the study, analysis, debate on the political, economic, diplomatic, social and cultural transformations occurring within the European project.

« Pour la Paix ! » (1849-1939)
Première rencontre annuelle l'Europe dans le monde
Les rencontres « l'Europe dans le monde » sont le fruit d'un partenariat entre le Centre d’Études Interdisciplinaires du XXe siècle de l’Université de Coimbra – CEIS20 – et de l’Institut d’Histoire Contemporaine – IHC – de la Faculté des Sciences Sociales et Humaines-UNL. Ces rencontres annuelles, prévues durant le mois d'avril, s’organisent autour d’un thème et font appel à la participation de tout public. Le thème de la rencontre 2013 s’intitule : « Pour la Paix ! » (1849-1939) et s'inscrit dans le programme du centenaire de la Grande Guerre organisé par l'Institut d'Histoire Contemporaine, d’autre part dans le programme international coordonné par l'Imperial War Museum-Londres dont l'IHC est partenaire. Du XIXe au début du XXe siècle, les idées et les mouvements de la paix sont au cœur des préoccupations d'un grand nombre d’individus, en réaction aux menaces d’éclatement du conflit mondial.

Réseau Art Nouveau Network – Laboratoire historique 4
Dans le cadre des actions du projet « Art nouveau et écologie », le Réseau « Art Nouveau Network », réseau de villes visant à préserver, étudier et promouvoir l’Art nouveau à l’échelle européenne, organise une série de cinq laboratoires historiques avec le soutien du programme Culture 2007-2013 de la Commission européenne. Le quatrième de ces laboratoires se déroule à Aveiro (Portugal) et explore le thème suivant: « Matières premières et Art nouveau ».
