Synergies Monde Méditerranéen journal
Le numéro 8 de la revue Synergies Mondes Méditerranéens souhaite explorer les traductions et problématisations convoquées et mobilisées autour des notions de langages, d'objets, de territoires et d'hospitalités dans les environnements méditerranéens passés, présents et à venir. Les propositions attendues doivent permettre de rassembler les questions vives que posent leur emploi dans différents travaux dans les sciences humaines et sociales en général et en sciences de l'information et de la communication en particulier.

Unusual looks: objects, places, agents
On the Bicentennial of the Greek Revolution and the inauguration of the Paris-Athens 1780-1919 exhibition, the Louvre Museum and the French School at Athens are organizing an international conference, which will be held at the Louvre Museum and the Institute of France, from 22 to 23 April 2021 under the auspices of the Académie des Inscriptions et des Belles Lettres. This conference also benefits from the support of the Initiative 1821-2021. The languages of the conference will be French and English.

La recherche scientifique est étroitement liée à la prise de conscience sociale de l’intérêt économique et politique du progrès scientifique. Son essor est assujetti au regard que portent les pouvoirs publics sur les chercheurs et sur la politique de recherche. Pour instituer la recherche et l’intégrer dans le circuit économique, un cadre juridique, une politique et des stratégies doivent définir ses espaces d’interactions et les acteurs avec lesquels cette recherche interagit. Que faire alors pour transformer l’université en un espace de production des savoirs et savoir-faire ? Pourrait-on exiger de la recherche des résultats si l’activité pédagogique est mal prise en charge ? La mainmise de l’administration sur la pédagogie et la recherche se répercute sur l’esprit d’initiative, sur la création et le bon fonctionnement de l’université. Sous ces conditions, quelle politique pour l’université de demain ?

L'objectif de ce colloque est de proposer une analyse comparée des formes d'internement établies par les métropoles coloniales du Sud de l'Europe (France, Espagne, Italie, Portugal) à leur intérieur et au sein de leurs empires et de les relier aux morphologies des différentes méthodes de réclusion contemporaines visant en particulier les migrants et les réfugiés. L’hypothèse qui sera mise en débat au cours du colloque est que la combinaison de la mise en place de dispositifs de contrôle contraignants avec l’identification de catégories considérées « dangereuses » que les autorités souhaitent limiter dans leur action, crée un système de pouvoir et de contrôle des États sur les populations qui devient paradigmatique avec la consolidation des empires coloniaux modernes au XIXe siècle.

The Arab world and the Mediterranean in the digital era: forms, practices and representations
Cette journée d’études invite les chercheurs à discuter des travaux traitant des unités lexicales et les formes discursives, comme objets de recherche de la lexicologie, la lexicographie, la sémantique lexicale et l’ethno-psycho-sociolinguistique, et ce dans l’objectif d’identifier les éventuelles formes de substitution, d’emprunt, d’adaptation, d’hybridation, etc. marquant les langues de la Méditerranée. L'objectif de ceci sera de rendre compte de la configuration des langues et des discours dans le monde arabe et méditerranéen et de l'influence des langues présentes dans cette région sur les pratiques sociales et culturelles.

2021 marks the bicentennial of the Greek uprising which resulted, at the end of a long war, in the country’s independence:Greece was thus born as a modern nation while romanticism, particularly in France, made it one of its favorite themes,carrying out out a vibrant philhellenic movement. The commemoration should not, however, cover up that there were andare other Greeces, from antiquity to our own day. The theme of this issue is also given in the plural since the construction of Greek art in the modern era is but one of the phenomena considered here. It is the plurality of constructions of Greecein art which unifies the collection of studies and essays which we envision.

Le monde des arts s’offre au regard, peut-être beaucoup plus aujourd’hui que par le passé, comme une scène bigarrée où tous les possibles concourent à l’expression du monde, une expression subjective engageant un je, singulier ou pluriel, mais revendiquée comme telle, et quelle qu’elle soit : directe, donnée au figuré, sous enveloppe métaphorique, hybride, protéique ou … carrément inachevée. Le « non finito » dans l’art, s’il avait eu du temps, de Michel Ange, un aspect anecdotique, achève aujourd’hui de constituer une véritable mouvance tant dans les galeries d’art, les fabriques du livre, le septième art, les arts dramatiques avec des appellations souvent confondantes, devenues presque consacrées : esquisse, story board, rushes, work in process, mise en bouche, mise en espace, première (en parlant de théâtre), œuvre en devenir, etc...

Narrative forms and co-production in Arab cinemas
Norms, constraints, and margins of freedom
Film industry in the Arab world remains generally underdeveloped. Arab countries still depend on international film support funds, mainly European. This puts Arab producers, scriptwriters and filmmakers in a subaltern position in relation to European producers and funders, whose expectations in terms of content as well as narrative and aesthetic forms end up strongly impacting the film creation process. On the other hand, margins of freedom and resistance can be created within this system. This edition of Regards aims at addressing the complex relation between Arab cinemas and international film support funds.

The Western Mediterranean in the 5th century. The great upheaval?
The 5th century is unequivocally identified as a key moment in the history of the Western Mediterranean, marked in particular by the establishment of the Barbarian kingdoms, the end of the Roman Empire in the West and a new phase of Christianity's expansion. These are all major, if not fundamental, upheavals that have profoundly and lastingly influenced the evolution of this geographical area. Currently data available make it very difficult to form a satisfactory global vision of this century because they are so heterogeneous, dispersed and often diluted in diachronic approaches. From this observation emerges the need to gather, cross-reference and compare the extremely abundant information in order to measure the transformations and the space they affect during the 5th century. An international symposium is undoubtedly the most appropriate tool to approach this issue, given the multiplicity of research teams working in this field and the scope of the geographical framework concerned.

La notion de vernaculaire tend de plus en plus à échapper à l’opposition ancienne entre, d’une part, les idées de proximité et d’ancrage local qu'elle porterait traditionnellement et, d’autre part, celles de circulation et d’extra-localité qu'on associe par contraste au véhiculaire. La substantivation de l’adjectif vernaculaire et son adossement à celui de contemporain accompagne cette évolution. Aujourd’hui, le vernaculaire semble constituer un domaine culturel regroupant des manières de faire linguistiques, architecturales, paysagères, picturales, relevant de la création artistique, ou encore de la production d’objets. Ce colloque aura pour objet d’interroger cette notion à travers son renouvellement sémantique, ses circulations géographiques et ses ancrages disciplinaires.

Organised by the ERC Advanced Grant “Mapping Ancient Polytheisms. Cult Epithets as an Interface between Religious Systems and Human Agency” (MAP - 741182), the conference Naming and Mapping the gods in the Ancient Mediterranean. Spaces, Mobilities, Imaginaries hopes to bring together the competences and specialties of multiple disciplines – archaeology, history, geography, anthropology, history of religions, philology, reception, social network analysis – in order to consider new documentation corpora concerning the intersection between the divine and space. Among other things, the conference aims to propose an innovative angle of approach: the intersection between the spaces and designations of the gods.

The expansion and culture of herbs around the world - text and image
From the peaks of the Himalaya to the Mediterranean Sea, from the outset of the Silk Road to the far reaches of the Eurasian continent, the economy and culture of herbs has expanded over the course of time. Whether used as common products of consumption or considered as rare and valuable commodities, sold in their raw form or transformed, these medicinal or aromatic herbs have become precious cultural ambassadors in encounters with more and more faraway horizons. This book project centers on the idea of herbs as vectors of encounters and cultural exchanges. Indeed, the expansion and use of herbs around the world have led to the emergence of interacting and expanding cultural practices. The focus will be on defining the specific fields pertaining to the knowledge of herbs, with a particular interest in their cultivation, harvesting, commercialisation and circulation.

Cette journée d'étude transpériodique et interdisciplinaire (histoire, civilisation hispanique, histoire des arts, sciences politiques, etc.) entend interroger les rapports de pouvoir et de domination (sur le plan politique, économique psychologique ou symbolique) s’inscrivant dans une dimension sensible et s’exprimant par des émotions (adhésion, résistance, joie, tristesse, amour, haine, etc.) individuelles et/ou collectives qui peuvent aussi bien renforcer les structures de décision que les fragiliser en cas de contestation radicale. Le domaine d’étude visé est l’Epoque Moderne (France-Espagne) sans pour autant s’interdire d’explorer des repères plus anciens, dotés d’une valeur exemplaire ou fondatrice.

Otherness and resistance through the prism of gender in the Mediterranean
Ce colloque, pluridisciplinaire, se propose d’analyser, à travers les rapports sociaux de sexe, les dynamiques, ajustements et changements provoqués par les comportements alternatifs aux normes sociales, aux conventions familiales, aux pratiques sexuelles, etc. qui émergent dans les moments de bouleversements politiques et de migrations – comme ceux que l’on a connus dans le bassin méditerranéen. L’attention sera portée sur des exemples pris dans l’histoire longue ou dans l’actualité récente présentant les logiques d’affrontements, répressions, adaptations, violences, accommodements voire innovations qui s’expriment dans des résistances émancipatrices ou au contraire conservatrices et les dialogues Nord-Sud possibles dans ces contextes.
