  Black womanhood in popular culture

  De Gruyter Open topical issue

  In contemporary popular culture, black womanhood frequently takes centre stage. It occupies an increasingly central place and articulates new and renewed dimensions, prompting questions about the status of black women in the cultural imaginary of the United States and beyond. Most prominently, Michelle Obama's First Ladyship has sparked scholarly and media discussions around the significance of stereotypes associated with black women, the possibilities and limitations of public figures to create new images and anchor them in the cultural imaginary, and about the subject positions and images that express and shape constructions of black womanhood (cf. Harris-Perry 2011, Schäfer 2015, Spillers 2009).

  Construir lo sagrado en la europa románica : reliquia, espacio, imagen y rito

  VI coloquio Ars Mediaevalis

  Pour sa sixième édition, le colloque Ars Mediaevalis, qui se déroulera à Aguilar de Campoo (Espagne) du 30 septembre au 2 octobre 2016 a choisi d'analyser la notion de « sacré » à l'époque romane et ses liens avec les productions artistiques et leurs fonctions dans l'espace de l'église et au cours des cérémonies liturgiques. Comme les éditions précédentes, le colloque fera alterner les conférences plénières et les communications. Les chercheurs intéressés par la thématique sont invités à proposer leur résumé avant le 30 juin 2016.

  The Vico Road

  Giovanni Battista Vico (1668–1744) spent most of his professional life as Professor of Rhetoric at the University of Naples. He was trained in jurisprudence, but read widely in Classics, philology, and philosophy, all of which informed his highly original views on history, historiography, and culture. His thought is most fully expressed in his mature work, the Scienza Nuova or The New Science. In his own time, Vico was relatively not so known, but from the nineteenth century onwards his views found a wider audience and today his influence is widespread in the humanities and social sciences. While borrowing our title “The Vico Road” to James Joyce, the conference at the Paris Institute of Advanced Study will examine the current state of the study of the works of Giambattista Vico. We will try to encourage discussion of ideas that can be considered Vichian in nature and that have some affinity with modern and contemporary thought.

  Les écrits d’Esther (Etty) Hillesum sont pour nous un recueil precieux, constituant une documentation historique très saillante. Ils représentent un reportage au sujet du mal extrême, tel que la persécution raciale et les lagers, ainsi qu’une puissante réflexion philosophique autour de la valeur et du sens de la vie, de l'amour et de la mort. Le Colloque international « Etty hillesum. Cento anni dopo (1914-2014) » (9 et 10 décembre 2014, Université Ca' Foscari de Venise, Italie) veut tracer un bilan de l'œuvre de cet important témoin du XX^e siècle.

  Le Franco-Allemand oder die Frage nach den Herausforderungen transnationaler Vernetzung

  Le Franco-Allemand ou les enjeux des réseaux transnationaux

  2013 jährt sich zum 50. Mal die Unterzeichung des Elysée-Vertrags. Aus diesem Anlass organisiert die romanistische Kulturwissenschaft unter Leitung von Prof. Röseberg und Marie-Therese Mäder eine deutsch-französische Tagung, in der das Franco-Allemand thematisiert werden soll. Die Veranstaltung findet vom 14. bis 16. Juni an der LEUCOREA in Lutherstadt Wittenberg statt. Eingeladen sind insbesondere junge Forscher, die sich im Rahmen ihrer Qualifikation mit Aspekten des Transnationalen beschäftigen.

  Rencontres internationales du projet « À chacun son réel » (ERC Starting Grant) Avril 2013

  Le projet ERC-Starting Grant À chacun son réel, recherche menée sur les notions de réel et de réalité(s) dans l’art des années 1960 à 1989 en France, RFA, RDA et Pologne, organise à Paris, au Centre allemand d’histoire de l’art, une rencontre internationale les 11, 12 et 13 avril 2013 autour de trois ateliers de recherche rassemblant chercheurs confirmés, post-doctorants et doctorants et dont les thèmes de travail seront : Réalité(s), fiction, utopie.
