Death and Migration: Perspectives from the Post-Soviet Space
This dossier of Revue européenne des migrations internationales proposes to take up a research theme that has undergone a strong renewal of interest in recent years, that of death and migration. This dossier aims to shed light on an area which has been little studied from this angle (the post-Soviet space) and to develop an approach which focuses on the management of bodies 'dead in the distance' (deaths in migration, deaths due to migration). This dossier also focuses on the effects of a certain proximity to death on the practices of foresight and mutual aid (when they exist) in the migratory context, as well as their impacts on migration as a whole. Two thematic axes will guide the contributions: the first concerns the practical modalities of the management of dead bodies abroad; the second concerns mitigating and solidarity practices in relation to the proximity of death in migration.

Populism: Theoretical Confusion, Contexts of proliferation and Comparative Experiences
Although most researchers unanimously agreed on the modernity of populism, this should in no way discourage us from further examining the implications of this phenomenon and its origins in ancient history. The search for the historical roots of populism, that some relate to early times, is only an attempt to establish its origin. However, the subsequent transformations of populism in meaning and practice have made it difficult to discern its limits. Apparently, this critical approach seems to be inaccessible due to many considerations, including the transformations of populism in terms of concept and practice to the point of almost losing its first forms. According to this approach, it is more likely that real beginnings of populism coincided with the emergence of modern democracy showing signs of deficiency.

Autrement écrit, nous nous intéressons au rôle du racisme dans la constitution d’un « spatialisme racial ».

Cette manifestation scientifique survient dans un contexte marqué par une succession d’événements de crise (crises financières, catastrophes sanitaires et environnementales, sans parler de la pandémie de Covid-19) qui a généré un intérêt renouvelé pour les thématiques de l’alerte et des savoirs d’anticipation dans le débat public.

Six ans plus tard, et à la suite de la loi du 14 mars 2016 relative à la protection de l’enfance, la revue Les Cahiers du Travail Social souhaite interroger à nouveau la pertinence des dispositifs mis en place pour assurer l’accueil et l’accompagnement éducatif et social de ces jeunes personnes désormais appelées mineurs non accompagnés (MNA).

Ses travaux portent sur le Maroc, la Mauritanie et plus largement le Maghreb sur la longue durée, dans les disciplines suivantes : archéologie, histoire, sociologie, anthropologie, géographie, science politique, droit, sciences économiques. Dans le cadre de sa programmation scientifique, le CJB offre deux ou trois postes de doctorant·e / post-doctorant·e pour une durée d’un an, renouvelables.

Secular religiosities and the secular sacred
Ce colloque traite des métamorphoses du religieux et du sacré en contexte laïque, notamment à partir de la notion de « religion séculière » développée par Éric Voegelin et Raymond Aron, mais aussi de « religiosité séculière » forgée par Albert Piette. Pourquoi naissent ou semblent progresser, de nos jours, les religiosités séculières ? Par quels mécanismes se diffusent-elles et à quels besoins répondent-elles ? Faut-il y voir la preuve que l’homme continue d’être un « homo religiosus », et par conséquent insister sur un continuum ; ou doit-on plutôt envisager de manière disruptive la sécularité qui les sous-tend et qui semble dénaturer quelque peu le champ religieux tel qu’il se déploya pendant près de deux millénaires ?

Governing bodies and behaviours
« Gouverner par » les instruments, les nombres, l’écoute, les cartes, les finances publiques, les labels, les accommodements, les fichiers, les honneurs, la science, la proximité, le temps, les prix... Le chantier de la “gouvernementalité” ouvert par Michel Foucault (2004) a suscité de nombreux développements théoriques dans diverses disciplines (Berlivet, 2013), qui en révèlent toute la dimension heuristique pour les sciences sociales. Seize ans après Le gouvernement des corps (Fassin & Memmi, 2004), ce colloque vise à réinterroger les usages de cette notion permettant d’analyser des phénomènes sociaux.

Intersectional Challenges in Afroeuropean Communities
8th Biennial Afroeuropeans Network Conference
The conference aims to consider how Afroeuropean communities are shaped by the intersections of ‘race’ and ethnicity with other markers of identification such as gender, class, sexuality, ability, age, citizenship status, language… Informed by intersectional thinking and its rejection of unidimensional perspectives in activism, policy and research, the conference explores how diverse processes of privileging and discrimination interact, making for complex and dynamic experiences of what it means to be Afroeuropean. It acknowledges that the racial and ethnic alterity of Afroeuropeans intersects with other identities (e.g. male, female, queer, working class, religious, disabled, aged…) and specifically seeks to examine to what extent these intersections create new alignments and opportunities.

PJCV seeks articles exploring themes of conflict and violence in the life, work, thought, and intellectual legacy of Jacques Ellul (1912-1994). An “atypical, uncategorizable thinker, transgressing disciplinary borders” (François Dosse), Ellul penned a vast corpus of provocative and original writings in two broad categories: first, sociological writings analyzing elements of twentieth-century western society as expressions of technique (understood as a rational and willful drive will towards ordered efficiency); second, essays in protestant theological ethics and meditative biblical interpretation. These writings bring the voices of Ellul’s three major influences—Søren Kierkegaard, Karl Marx, and the Swiss Protestant theologian Karl Barth—into stimulating dialectical conversation about politics, technology, art, media, communications, institutional evolution, morality, language, anarchy, revolution, urbanism—and notably, violence.

The field of influence activities is increasingly proliferating (advertising, propaganda, marketing, public relations, communication, soft power, social psychology, fake news, applied algorithmic, etc.). It is important to grasp not only their scope, but their extension, their dynamics, their practices, their logic, their techniques. Where and on whom do they work? What are their histories? Who are their practitioners? What are their pioneer fronts? Why is it important to consider them just as much each in their specificity, and together? What is the contribution of influence practices to the production of value (economic and political)? From the point of view of the present and from the one of long duration history, is not influence government (a form of governmentality) a major dimension of the deep neoliberal turn the world is experiencing nowadays?
