  African Ivories

  In the Atlantic World, 1400-1900

  Since April 2015, the international team working on the project “African Ivories in the Atlantic World: a reassessment of Luso-African ivories” (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia: PTDC/EPH-PAT/1810/2014), composed of 27 researchers from the University of Lisbon, the University of Évora and the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil, has been researching the trade, circulation and production of raw and carved African ivory in the Atlantic area from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century. The team has identified and listed objects from Portuguese and Brazilian (Minas Gerais) collections, also collecting references and descriptions extant in written Portuguese sources. For the first time a selection of ivory pieces was subjected to lab tests with a view to helping establish their age and origin. The project research team has submitted proposals for re-interpreting material culture in the framework of its African contexts of production.

  "Odeere" Journal

  Since mental health is perceived as a result of ethnic relations within a societal context, the Editors of this special issue are inviting authors from diverse areas of knowledge to submit their papers on the theme “Mental health, Ethnic relations and Immigration”. The objective of this Special Issue is to offer a perspective about the aforementioned facets of the Brazilian and international contexts grounded from the experiences of researchers from multiple disciplines. This will inspire the debate about this field of research and the development of reflections about social policies.

  La communication politique et la diplomatie à la fin du Moyen Âge

  Ce congrès fait un état de la question de l'histoire de la diplomatie médiévale, un sujet sur le processus de renouvellement méthodologique. Pour cela, l'accent sera mis sur certains aspects tels que les nouvelles tendances historiographiques, la grande variété de sources disponibles (littérature, archives, correspondance...), la sociologie des protagonistes (ecclésiastiques, noblesse, juristes, commerçants...) et les différents contextes politiques de la diplomatie (papauté, royaumes, villes ...).

  Socialismes africains | Socialismes en Afrique

  Les temps sont venus de donner aux socialismes africains et/ou aux socialismes en Afrique la place qui leur revient dans l’historiographie générale du socialisme et dans celle de l’Afrique. Les histoires du, des socialismes, qu’ils soient ou non « réels » oublient systématiquement l’Afrique. Or il a existé en Afrique de très nombreux régimes qui se sont réclamés du socialisme « africain », ou « scientifique », de même que de très nombreux opposants qui ont d’autant plus cherché leur inspiration dans les outils théoriques construits par le marxisme – ou sa vulgate –, que celui-ci leur semblait proposer une théorie de l’histoire favorable à l’avenir des peuples colonisés ou anciennement colonisés.

  The Conference Organizing Committee hereby announces its “Keep It Simple, Make It Fast! The organisation of the KISMIF Conference will be undertaken by the Research Project Keep It Simple, Make It Fast!. The Call for Papers of this Conference is open for presentations to all core areas of sociology, social sciences and also design, illustration, visual arts and performing arts. The KISMIF Conference Organizing Committee invites experienced and young scholars from various disciplines to participate in the conference. The KISMIF Conference Organizing Committee would like the participants to know that the selected papers from the conference will be published in an edited collection by an international publisher.

  L'UVSQ et l'UMR Printemps, en association avec divers laboratoires CNRS, organisent les 12 et 13 décembre prochains, deux journées d'études sur les restruturations des transports ferroviaires dans le monde. Ces deux journées ont aussi pour objectif de jeter les bases d'un réseau international de recherche International Railways Studies.
