Le groupe franco-britannique de recherche en aménagement et urbanisme / French-British Study Group in Planning qui depuis 20 ans œuvre au tissage intellectuel dans le champ de l’aménagement et de l’urbanisme entre les communautés scientifiques des deux pays, ne pouvait que s’interroger sur l’impact territorial d’un éventuelle sortie du Royaume-Uni de l’Union européenne, mais aussi de toutes les formes de discontinuités et de ruptures territoriales à toutes les échelles, du cadre national au niveau local en passant par la dimension régionale.

Soft Law Research (Solar) Network
Financed by the European Commission, the Academic Network of Soft Law Research (SoLaR) aims at stimulating the debate between academics and practitioners on the national role of EU soft law. SoLaR asks whether and how non-binding EU instruments are used bynational administrations when implementing EU policies and bynational courts when ruling in cases falling within the scope ofapplication of EU law. This final event will present the results of the project (to be published by Bloomsbury as an edited collection in 2020), introduce the policy recommendations and discuss follow-upactivities

Homenaje a Slimane Mostafa Zbiss y Mikel de Epalza
La historia y la geografía demuestran el importante rol que tuvo Túnez en el Mediterráneo y cómo esto influyó en la creación de su identidad. Su localización en el centro del Mare Nostrum le dio un papel importante, ya sea en periodos de paz o de guerra. En la Edad Media y el comienzo de los tiempos modernos, bajo los hafsíes, Túnez controlaba el comercio subsahariano con Europa y los bienes de los comerciantes del este con los mercados occidentales. Los hafsíes también mantuvieron buenas relaciones diplomáticas con Venecia y los reyes de Aragón... En tiempos de conflicto, en el siglo XVI, Túnez fue un lugar estratégico para los imperios otomano e hispánico.

Populismos y neopopulismos en el mundo atlántico (Europa - América latina)
Definiciones y conceptos a la luz de la evolución política de las últimas décadas
Actualmente estamos viendo como en una gran parte del mundo se está produciendo la aparición de nuevas formas políticas que, a falta de un mejor concepto, se denominan «populismos» o «neopulismos». Al tomarse como ejemplos la elección de Donald Trump en Estados Unidos o Jair Bolsonaro en Brasil, así como los regímenes de Vladimir Putin, Victor Orban, la Liga Norte y el Movimiento de las Cinco Estrellas, se puede observar como esta evolución ha sufrido una deformación patológica de una forma política que previamente habría existido en una forma «originalmente pura»: la democracia liberal. En este contexto, en el que los conceptos sólo se utilizan para alimentar la invectiva, nos parece importante reunir a investigadores de diferentes disciplinas y procedencias para favorecer los análisis comparativos o los intercambios que promuevan las perspectivas comparativas.

The Association international d’études du sud-est européen is happy to invite you to the 12th Congress of South-East European Studies, taking place in Bucharest, from the 2nd to the 7th of September 2019. One of the conference panels, organized by Robert Born (Leipzig) and Marian Coman (Bucharest), is dedicated to the cartographic history of south-eastern Europe. Proposals for individual papers are welcome on various aspects of the history of south-eastern Europe cartography, from the Ottoman period to the post-communist era. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: Renaissance and Early Modern maps of the Ottoman Empire, Enlightenment cartographies of Eastern Europe, the birth of national cartography, war and peace cartographies, historical and propaganda maps, national and local surveys, Cold War cartographies.

Quelles continuités et ruptures entre l'entre-deux-guerres et aujourd'hui ?
Face au sentiment de « crise » de la démocratie de ces dernières années, amplifié par la montée des mouvements populistes, la comparaison avec l’entre-deux-guerres est récurrente dans le débat politique de nombreux pays européens. Est-elle pour autant pertinente pour comprendre les enjeux démocratiques spécifiques aux deux périodes ? Tel est le point de départ de la journée d’étude inaugurant le Programme formation recherche « Quelle(s) démocratie(s) ? Réflexions sur la crise, la modernisation et les limites de la démocratie en Allemagne, en France, en Angleterre et en Europe centrale entre 1919 et 1939 » soutenu par le Centre interdisciplinaire d’études et de recherches sur l’Allemagne (CIERA).

The course France & the European Union investigates the political economy of European integration from the end of the Second World War to present day with a particular focus on the role played by France in this development. It considers the incentives that have led an ever-larger group of European nations to form multilateral agreements around a growing range of policies that now incorporate such diverse spheres as defense, economics, and human rights. It then turns to the challenges Europe faces in maintaining the European Union (EU) in the face of growing skepticism among national electorates as well as attempts to undermine the EU (by Russia) or withdraw support from it (by the U.K. and the U.S.).

In high medieval Europe, conflict took a number of different forms, from large-scale battles, such as disputes over crowns, power and lands, to more local disputes over inheritance and property. In the absence of well-developed administrative structures which could limit conflict, cultural conventions, rituals and behavioural norms evolved to moderate violence within the elite community.

Cette journée d'étude se propose de réunir des chercheurs autour de la thématique des guerres comme lieux de rencontre et d'échanges pendant un « long dix-neuvième siècle » (1789-1914). Située dans le champ de l'histoire culturelle de la guerre, elle vise à interroger les catégories d'analyse traditionnellement utilisées par les historiens - notamment celle de la totalisation - pour en questionner la pertinence dès lors que l'attention se concentre sur les conflits militaires du XIXe siècle, principalement en Europe.

The call for abstracts is already open. Although it has long been existing on the other side of the Atlantic, where it found institutionalisation in the wake of post world war II black social movements in the United States, the field of Black Studies is only emerging in Europe. Its development is uneven, however. Some European countries show a longer history and a more prolific scholarship than others in the study of people categorized as “Black”. Different approaches are being used, and different traditions are being formed. The relationships between scholarship, activism and the wider political landscape are more or less close, more or less explicit, more or less influential to each other, depending on the context.

El Congreso nace de la relación y colaboración mutua entre Les Territoires de la Mémoire Liège y Territorios de la Memoria España, se enmarca en un espacio de trabajo dedicado al estudio de los totalitarismos, los derechos humanos, la democracia como valor fundamental, el concepto de ciudadanía, y la memoria como objeto de investigación, fundamentalmente en un ámbito europeo.

This conference is an international symposium that proposes to study the entire range of exchanges and relations established between these two areas during the Early Modern Times (1500-1820). Its main objective is to think about diplomatic, economic, religious and cultural links between Europe and the Middle East by calling upon over twenty researchers with specializations in the Arab, Persian and Muslim world. In addition, this conference will provide a comprehensive overview to date of the Arabian Gulf at a time of major political change, including the successive arrival of the European “trading empires”. It will focus on some of the methodological challenges raised by a global, connected and cross-cultural thinking approach to the History of the Middle East and Europe”.
