Les conceptions de la nature et de la vie sont au cœur de ces pensées et des mouvements sociaux écologistes. C’est pourquoi ce seminaire abordera les pensées de la nature, la notion de vie dans la pensée européenne et japonaise, et comment ces notions prennent forme, circulent, sont adaptées et participent des transformations sociales.

Environmental issues such as climate change, pollution and resource scarcity continue to clash with visions and ideologies for economic prosperity, while social and political issues such as economic disparity, human right abuses and geopolitical conflicts persist and take on new forms. Within this context, unbridled tourism growth in the Asia Pacific region is on the rise as governmental and private industry initiatives endeavor to combat issues of poverty, gender inequality, rural revitalization, post-disaster recovery, and sustainable development goals through sustained tourism growth.

Les XXIe ateliers de l'Association des jeunes études indiennes (AJEI) se tiendront à Delhi du 22 eu 25 avril 2019, dans les locaux du Centre des sciences humaines sur le thème de l'intermédiation et du pouvoir. L'AJEI est une association de jeunes chercheur·e·s sur l'Inde, qui depuis plus de 20 ans organise des evènements scientifiques permettant de visibiliser sa recherche, d'en discuter, de la confronter à l'avis de chercheur·e·s seniors. L'appel à contributions ci-dessous donne les axes centraux mais nous restons ouverts à toute contribution recoupant la thèmatique et se basant sur des données empiriques solides.

Female elites in the Francophone space
Ce colloque, tout comme les actes qui suivront, visent à rendre compte des mécanismes complexes qui régissent les processus de stratifications sociales, en articulant trois dimensions analytiques qui relèvent à la fois de la Francophonie, du genre et du fait élitaire. L’enjeu est de rendre visible de la manière la plus empirique possible, les différentes manifestations de ce fait social dans des espaces sociaux (associatif, religieux, politique, économique, littéraire, etc.) où les femmes évoluent. Il est alors question de mettre en exergue les points de convergences, les variations et reconfigurations socio-historiques et politiques, ainsi que les lignes de fracture éventuelles dans l’espace francophone. En abordant la problématique de l’élite sous le double angle du genre et des enjeux géopolitiques et culturels francophones, notre démarche se situe au croisement de plusieurs champs disciplinaires des sciences humaines et sociales (sociologie, psychologie sociale, histoire, gestion-économie, science politique, droit, art et lettres, etc.).

Fieldwork grants in South East Asia, 2018
L’Irasec met à concours chaque année deux bourses d’aide à la recherche sur le terrain. Ces bourses s’adressent en priorité à des doctorant·e·s et à des post-doctorant·e·s français ou étrangers (inscrits dans une université française pour les doctorant·e·s ou associé à un laboratoire de recherche français pour les post-doctorant·e·s) poursuivant des recherches sur l’Asie du Sud-Est contemporaine. Elles sont destinées à mener des enquêtes de terrain sur la thématique du doctorat, approfondir des recherches déjà engagées en thèse ou entamer un nouveau terrain post-doctoral. Les problématiques doivent apporter une perspective originale et novatrice sur l’Asie du Sud-Est, relevant des champs disciplinaires suivants : sciences politiques, sciences économiques, sciences sociales (anthropologie, sociologie, géographie, droit, histoire contemporaine).

Ce projet de recherche porte sur la revue littéraire et culturelle « noire » Présence Africaine, créée par le sénégalais Alioune Diop en 1947 et qui continue d’être publiée jusqu’à nos jours. En tant que revue majeure de l’intelligentsia « noire », elle a joué un rôle politique et culturel particulièrement important dans la période de la décolonisation autour des années 1950.

Since 1998 the “Association des jeunes études indiennes” (AJEI) organizes an annual workshop in India with the support of international and local partners. This year, we propose a three-day event in Goa to debate the question of the “commons” in contemporary South-Asia. The workshop will be structured around different thematic sessions with the presentations of the works of the participants, a field visit and an open discussion on fieldwork methods. One of the main objective of the event is to give the opportunity to the participants to exchange on their works and their experience, to get feedbacks from senior researchers and to build relationships, reinforcing thus the strong international network of researchers on South Asia.

Freedom of expression and its judges - new issues, new perpectives?
Ce colloque n’entend pas reprendre les thèmes liés à l’histoire de la liberté d’expression et à ses dimensions théoriques. Prenant le terrain pour objet d’analyse, il doit permettre d’observer les effets du renouvellement des supports de la liberté d’expression en ce début de siècle pour envisager son traitement quotidien, au fil des espèces et des situations, par les pouvoirs publics. L’on devra ainsi s’interroger sur la mutation de la liberté d’expression dans ses rapports avec le droit et les institutions, avant de décortiquer la manière avec laquelle l’autorité étatique – administrative et juridictionnelle, en amont comme en aval – trace les contours de cette liberté, ses conditions d’exercice et ses limites. L’objectif de ce colloque est ainsi de questionner – dans une approche comparative ouverte sur différentes expériences nationales – les ambigüités de la liberté d’expression telle qu’elle apparaît dans les pratiques récentes des individus, des professionnels du droit et de la sécurité.

L'an V des Révolutions au prisme de l'économique et du social
This colloquium, organized in Beirut as part of the WAFAW program, aims to critically take part in a debate over the socio-economic undergrounds of the “political crises” in the region, a scarcely explored angle when dealing with this issue. It will base its contribution on investigations and original corpuses. Its purpose is to better understand how the Arab, Iranian, Turkish and other political societies observed are workedby highly singular processes (such as the importance of oil, of migration economy, or of war economies) but also amenable to an unequal globalization of exchanges. How (and not why) does the economy play into these political dynamics?

Multifaceted Inequality in Contemporary India
The "Association des jeunes études indiennes" (AJEI) is a student organization whose members are young researchers coming from various disciplines of the human and social sciences (from masters degree to postdoctoral level) whose area of research is South Asia. Every year, a research seminar in France and a workshop in India bring students and scholars together in order to discuss the topics and papers presented. Since 1998 the AJEI organizes an annual workshop in India with the support of international and local partners. This year we propose a three day workshop with an opening lecture, daily presentations discussed by senior researchers, methodological workshops, and a concluding session. One of our goals is also to interact informally, and build relationships, towards creating a strong international network of researchers.

The World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Azerbaijan Customs are pleased to announce the 10th annual WCO PICARD conference. The conference will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 8 to 10 September 2015. Papers should focus on Customs or, more globally, the regulation, dynamics, and practices of the international trade of goods. The WCO encourages attendance and paper submissions from anthropologists, economists, geographers, historians, lawyers, and political scientists. Ces ateliers se veulent une plateforme permettant à de jeunes chercheurs de rendre compte, tant de la manière dont des perspectives de genre apportent un éclairage complémentaire à leur objet d’étude que des contributions de leurs recherches aux débats sur le genre.

Living, Consuming and Action in Glocal Palestine
More often than not, Palestine, characterised by conflict, is analysed through the sole lenses of its political or cultural idiosyncrasy. Yet, new ways of living, consuming and acting that are embedded in the global reality, have emerged in the previous years and remained understudied. This global dimension may be understood as an imposed and inescapable reality, yet it is also adopted, integrated, amended and applied to a local dimension, so as to create a purely Palestinian form of it.This event will gather mostly researchers and PhD students in social sciences specialised in Palestine but will also pursue a comparative approach by resorting to other cases in the Middle East, North Africa or Europe. The conference also aims at confronting various approaches at the crossroads between art and science, research and action; it will create the frame for a dialogue between social sciences and the works of artists, architects as well as the new actions and philosophy of citizen and activist societies.

The evolving relations between nation-states and Kurdish areas
What impact on the modes of local governance?
The departments of contemporary studies of IFEA (Istanbul) and IFPO organize a workshop in Erbil, the 29th of May 2014. This workshop aims at analysing the evolving dynamics of the Kurdish populated areas in Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Iran. More precisely, it will focus on the changing interactions between the nation-states and the Kurdish political actors, and on the impacts of these transformations on the modes of local governance.
