  The beginning of the XXI century is characterized by the development of international tourism practices. This activity, that has deeply changed the relation to time and space in the western world since the XVIII century, is now conquering the expanding countries of Asia. This specific moment of adoption of an activity and its practices, give the opportunity to analyze the various aspects of its growth. Are we observing a phenomenon of transfers, mutations or creations? If the development of tourism inChina and India has been studied for several years, its development in Indonesia still requires an in-depth analysis. How is this new activity appropriated in the fourth most populous country in the world? What are the effects on the Indonesian society, whose distinctiveness comes from the diversity of its people, cultures, and religions, throughout its 17,000 islands, from Sumatra to Papua?

  Metropolitan energy policies: the case of the Turkish cities

  Call for paper for a Seminar at the French Institute of Anatolian Studies (IFEA), co-organized by Eric Verdeil (Jean Moulin University in Lyon - UMR Environment City Corporation) and Jean-François Pérouse (Galatasaray University and IFEA). The report Energy and Urban Innovation (2010) by the World Energy Council underlines the fundamental role of cities in the energy transition and the interlocking of several series of actions, related to technology, economy and policy. It appears that the political and social practices are a major issue and justify an increased contribution of social sciences to the analysis of the implementation of these new policies. The seminar intends to address these issues in the case of large Turkish cities.

  Tourism and rural communities: strategies, methods, and the confrontation of experiences

  Ce colloque à portée internationale s'inscrit dans le prolongement des réflexions engagées à l’occasion du premier colloque international « Le tourisme durable et la lutte contre la pauvreté » organisé en septembre 2009 à Ninh Chu (province de Ninh Thuan, Vietnam). Il vise à réunir des praticiens et chercheurs spécialisés dans le vaste champ du « tourisme durable, instrument d'élimination de la pauvreté » (cf. Bernard Schéou, Du tourisme durable au tourisme équitable, 2009). Pour ce, cette manifestation combinera une phase « classique » consacrée à des communications avec une phase de terrain et d'ateliers (dans le delta du Mékong) destinée à faire émerger des propositions.

Comment la ville se fabrique-t-elle aujourd’hui ? Par quels mécanismes les évolutions économiques, démographiques et sociales ont-elle un effet surl’espace et inversement? Assiste-t-on à l’émergence d’une métropole régionale, avec ses atouts et ses difficultés ?
