  Intervenciones. Cine – arte – política

  Revista “La región central”, vol. 1 no. 1

  This first issue of La región central explores the idea of intervention: reciprocal interventions between cinema and contemporary art, but also interventions on the social sphere that may help think the political dimension of contemporary art practices. We propose a monographic issue attending to the political dimension of cinema and contemporary art relations through theoretical and more practical, case oriented critical approaches. We seek to interrogate not just the textual dimensions or phenomenological frames of apprehension of moving images, but also their poetics of production and their potential to critically intervene the social sphere.

  Visibilité et invisibilité des pratiques du pouvoir

  La mise en forme du pouvoir, sa mise en scène publique et les représentations qui en découlent constituent un objet d’étude privilégié de l’histoire de l’art. L’iconographie des monuments romains, le faste de la cour de Louis XIV ou encore le cinéma de propagande de guerre britannique, par exemple, ont fait l’objet de maintes analyses sur le rapport du contenu à l’idéologie. Aussi valide soit-elle, cette approche a tendance à négliger l’analyse détaillée des mécanismes visuels au fondement de l’efficacité politique des œuvres. Voilà pourquoi cette journée d’étude propose d’examiner plus spécifiquement le fonctionnement de l’art officiel à partir de ses stratégies de visibilité et d’invisibilité, qui peuvent aller du caractère spectaculaire et éphémère de l’apparat des fêtes révolutionnaires à la sobriété discrète et ubiquitaire des pièces de monnaie.

  Déplacement et hospitalité : acteurs et enjeux

  Ce colloque se propose d'aborder directement les pratiques et les discours qui traversent tout le tissu des relations réciproques entre populations « déplacées » et populations « déjà-là ». Il s’agit de mieux comprendre la construction de l’hospitalité entre ces populations, construction qui implique la reconfiguration des subjectivités et des communautés, et qui met en valeur les capacités politiques locales contribuant au vivre ensemble.

  Citizenship and Ethnicity

  Development studies are increasingly focused on democratization and the relationship between state power and issues of identity. Local communities and identity groups – ethnic, national, indigenous, religious - continuously struggle to negotiate their relations with the state and with each other in ways that may challenge conventional or legal definitions of citizenship. Collective identities may certainly exacerbate struggles between groups, but they may also create linkages, thus becoming both embedded in and inseparable from the democratization process. Increasingly, the quality of democracy is linked to inclusive citizenship regimes. These involve individual rights, but also a collectively defined “common good.” In divided societies both elements are problematic.
