Thinking the Latin American right wings
IVth International Congress
The IVth International Congress Thinking the Latin American right wings follows the three previous ones held in France (2014), Argentina (2016) and Brazil (2018), which have permitted the constitution of a community of researchers working on Latin American right-wings. Several specialists from different countries and disciplines have joined in this network, in order to promote projects and studies on this theme, and stimulated the development of new issues related to this political family. The use of various methodologies such as the analysis of political traditions and cultures, representations and imaginaries, identities, networks, sensitivities and memories have made it possible to consolidate a field of study that has become relevant to understand current Latin American political scene.

This international conference will show how Colette represents a vibrant and radical expression of feminism in tune with the #MeToo spirit in today's society

Tant la « nouvelle gauche » étudiante que la « deuxième vague » féministe ébranlent les certitudes des sociétés occidentales. Mais il est un aspect de ce mouvement de fond qui demeure mal compris: les revendications collectives des minorités nationales.

Après les premières vagues de revendications identitaires du tournant des XIXe et XXe siècles, puis de l’entre-deux-guerres, les années 1960 voient la renaissance et la multiplication des mouvements d’affirmation particulariste en Europe comme en Amérique du Nord. Nous nous limiterons ici aux espaces de la francophonie, qui offrent un vaste champ d’études cohérent, mais cela n’empêchera pas – elle sera bien au contraire encouragée – une mise en perspective grâce à l’étude succincte d’autres aires géographiques et civilisationnelles.

Réflexion autour de l’absentéisme électoral et la participation citoyenne
Ce colloque a pour thème un enjeu contemporain : la baisse de la participation électorale. Les électeurs québécois et du monde occidental boudent les urnes. Ce phénomène s’observe à tous les niveaux d’élections et touche également d’autres lieux décisionnels comme dans les syndicats et les organismes publics. Les organisateurs du colloque proposent d’analyser ce phénomène sous trois principaux angles : ses causes profondes, ses solutions et ses effets sur la démocratie et la société en général.

Political Mobilization and Citizen Engagement in Canada
The conference entitled "Political Mobilization and Citizen Engagement in Canada", conference sponsored by the Canadian Historical Association-affiliated Political History Group, promises to provide glimpses of various ongoing research projects in political history. The organizing committee of this conference seeks papers on the following topics in the Canadian context. Papers that compare Canada with other societies are also most welcome: pressure groups/lobby groups; social movements and their relationship with the state and political rulers; the political activism of particular individuals; particular events that have mobilized citizens in large numbers; transformations in political cultures; the evolution of participatory democracy; political ideas and discourses; the transformation of the state and its apparatus; etc.

The national revival of the 1960s-1970s : continuity, transformations, breaks
Les revendications nationalistes sont largement cycliques, et semblent fonctionner par « vagues ». Une « vague » toutefois semble largement négligée par la littérature, peut-être parce qu’elle n’a débouché sur aucun nouvel État : le réveil des nations sans État des années 1960-1970. Les études monographiques ne manquent certes pas, mais il n’existe que peu de réflexions globales permettant de comprendre pourquoi, au même moment, se produit la Révolution Tranquille au Québec, le nouveau dynamisme des revendications nationalitaires en Europe occidentale, l’émergence d’une revendication autochtone maorie et aborigène en Nouvelle-Zélande et Australie, la création de l’Organisation de Libération de la Palestine, etc.Il s’agira donc dans cet atelier de réfléchir, de manière monographique ou comparative, sur l’existence de cette « vague » nationale des années 1960-1970, ses causes, ses caractéristiques et ses conséquences.
