Between exclusivity and contraband: maritime trade in the West Indies (late 17th-early 19th centuries)

Le commerce aux Antilles à l'époque moderne était censé se dérouler dans un cadre impérial fermé, avec une législation prohibitive stricte. Mais cet exclusif commercial était-il possible et véritablement souhaité ? La contrebande n'était-elle pas systèmatique ? On souhaite réunir des spécialistes en histoire maritime de cette géographique afin d'aborder de manière neuve les réseaux commerciaux à l'échelle régionale.

Individual and Collective Identities in New France

In collaboration with Simon Fraser University and several religious orders who played a founding role in the history of Montreal, the Collectif d’Anthropologie et d’Histoire du Spirituel sous l’Ancien Régime (CAHSA) organizes an interdisciplinary conference on the interaction between individual and collective spiritualities in New France. The conference will take place in Montreal from October 13th-15th, 2016.
