Le 4^e colloque étudiant de l’IPAC propose d’étudier le concept d’altérité et son rôle dans les interactions humaines propres au domaine du patrimoine culturel. Il vise à stimuler une réflexion sur la façon dont la diversité et la pluralité culturelles agissent en tant qu’agents patrimoniaux fédérateurs, d’intégration et de compréhension de « l’Autre » ou comment, au contraire, des ruptures, tensions ou désintégrations du vivre ensemble peuvent se produire. Bref, comment le patrimoine représente-t-il un pont culturel entre Nous et les Autres, ainsi qu’un instrument de division potentiel ? Quel rôle joue le patrimoine et quel levier représente-t-il dans un monde qui semble avoir perdu ses repères, ses racines et son identité ?

Nous faisons face à des défis d’envergure, socio-économiques autant qu’environnementaux : changements climatiques, hausse des inégalités sociales et économiques, mais aussi de l’accès aux sphères décisionnelles. Pour y faire face, l’échelon local est vu comme un espace privilégié d’expérimentation. Qu’elles se rattachent à la « démocratie participative » (Blondiaux, 2008), à la « transition écologique » (Hopkins, 2010), aux « utopies concrètes » (Olin Wright, 2017) au Buen Vivir (Santos, 2016) ou aux « communs » (Dardot, Laval, 2014), plusieurs innovations sociales (IS) sont développées à cet échelon, conçu comme celui de la proximité et de la sociabilité, du concret et de l’enracinement dans le territoire.

Cet atelier international est organisé par le Collectif de recherche sur l’imaginaire (CRI). Il a pour objectif des présentations courtes laissant la place à des discussions longues, chaque participant retenu devant soumettre un texte à l’étude avant la rencontre. Les discussions approfondies permettront d’étoffer la prochaine programmation de recherche du Collectif. La problématique qui nous intéresse se situe à la croisée des chemins entre une actualisation des théories de l’imaginaire et une interrogation quant au rôle joué par le concept d’imaginaire dans l’économie politique contemporaine.

Médiations, publics et territoires

Le colloque s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une approche exploratoire des questions de médiation dans leur pluralité en Haïti et ailleurs. Il pourrait apporter une impulsion à la perspective d’actions de formation professionnalisante en médiation en Haïti, comme contribution possible à la reconstruction nationale. Ce colloque a pour ambition de : réunir des acteurs engagés dans des actions de médiation pour faire le point, questionner les pratiques de médiation en Haïti, en Amérique Latine et en Europe ; mobiliser des universitaires haïtiens et étrangers pour créer un cadre de réflexion et de production scientifique en matière de médiation ; dégager des besoins de formation en matière de médiation éducative en Haïti en vue d’une formation de premier et de second cycle universitaire, de concert avec les partenaires locaux et internationaux.

1st International Symposium: Hope, Betrayal and Trust

This trans-disciplinary research project is interested in exploring the complex and fluid relationships between hope and trust, and how might betrayal play a productive role in this bond. As concepts, ideas or simple notions, hope and trust seem to have simultaneously lost contemporary currency while being ever more necessary in our every day lives. We seem resigned to a kind of hopelessness, seem unwilling to trust others and are ready and willing to betray whomever we might need to in order to advance our own careers or personal agendas. Yet new technologies require us to place personal information online, to communicate with strangers, and to hold onto the promise of happiness. How are our maintenance of hope, our need to trust and our willingness to betray intertwined? How are these concepts evolving?

Scholars often invoke citizenship as an analytic frame to understand the history of Latin America and the Caribbean. While the concept can encompass a broad range of topics, this conference will focus on the spaces where individuals and groups come into contact with the institutions and symbols of the state. These spaces may be physical places, institutional settings, discursive realms, or other fora. In this graduate student conference, we will ask how such spaces of citizenship are constructed, delimited, and at times rejected, and how the terms of interaction and negotiation in these spaces are defined and re-defined.

Borders, Walls and Security

Thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the question still remains “Do good fences still make good neighbours”? Since the Great Wall of China, construction of which began under the Qin dynasty, the Antonine Wall, built in Scotland to support Hadrian’s Wall, the Roman “Limes” or the Danevirk fence, the “wall” has been a constant in the protection of defined entities claiming sovereignty, East and West. But is the wall more than an historical relict for the management of borders? In recent years the wall has been given renewed vigour all around the world, whether in North America, in Europe (with the Greek border fence), in Asia (for instance in India) or in Middle East. But the success of these new walls in the development of friendly and orderly relations between nations (or indeed, within nations) remains unclear. What role does the wall play in the development of security and insecurity? Do walls contribute to a sense of insecurity as much as they assuage fears and create a sense of security for those ‘behind the line’? Exactly what kind of security is associated with border walls?

Les objets de l'exil

Huitième colloque de Poexil

Le groupe « Poexil » sollicite des propositions de communications pour son huitième colloque annuel qui se tiendra à Montréal (Canada) les 20, 21 et 22 novembre 2008, sur le thème : « Les objets de l'exil ». L’expérience exilique connaît ses stratégies de réconfort ou de protection et parmi elles, le choix de garder un objet provenant du pays quitté et de l’investir de toute la charge nostalgique dont le sujet se soulage ainsi quelque peu. Le présent colloque entend interroger les processus par lesquels de tels objets qui sont exilés de leur cadre d’origine en viennent à incarner l’expérience même de l’exil. La sémiotique et l’herméneutique qui président à leur nouveau statut pourront être librement abordées par le biais de différentes perspectives disciplinaires. Vos propositions compteront entre 150 et 300 mots et devront être envoyées, avant le 25 mai 2008, à l’adresse suivante : colloquepoexil@yahoo.ca .
