Thinking the Latin American right wings
IVth International Congress
The IVth International Congress Thinking the Latin American right wings follows the three previous ones held in France (2014), Argentina (2016) and Brazil (2018), which have permitted the constitution of a community of researchers working on Latin American right-wings. Several specialists from different countries and disciplines have joined in this network, in order to promote projects and studies on this theme, and stimulated the development of new issues related to this political family. The use of various methodologies such as the analysis of political traditions and cultures, representations and imaginaries, identities, networks, sensitivities and memories have made it possible to consolidate a field of study that has become relevant to understand current Latin American political scene.

European and global responses to the concept of “literary engagement” between 1945 and 1968

The question of “engagement” (or commitment) became one of the defining elements of post-WWII literature and was, for a long period, at the center of the discussions about the relationship between aesthetics and politics in several European countries. Commonly associated with the name of Jean-Paul Sartre, the success of the notion of “committed literature,” however, went well beyond the French national space. This panel focuses on the transnational circulation of the concept of “committed literature” and, more broadly, on the circulation of related notions, such as writers’ “responsibility,” as well as on any type of counter-discourse or counter-theory targeting “committed literature.” We would like to explore the different degrees of transnational propagation and dissemination of these debates both in regions that absorbed the intellectual debates taking place in France and in the case of countries which remained more impermeable to them.

Ce colloque a pour thème un enjeu contemporain : la baisse de la participation électorale. Les électeurs québécois et du monde occidental boudent les urnes. Ce phénomène s’observe à tous les niveaux d’élections et touche également d’autres lieux décisionnels comme dans les syndicats et les organismes publics. Les organisateurs du colloque proposent d’analyser ce phénomène sous trois principaux angles : ses causes profondes, ses solutions et ses effets sur la démocratie et la société en général.

Political Mobilization and Citizen Engagement in Canada
The conference entitled "Political Mobilization and Citizen Engagement in Canada", conference sponsored by the Canadian Historical Association-affiliated Political History Group, promises to provide glimpses of various ongoing research projects in political history. The organizing committee of this conference seeks papers on the following topics in the Canadian context. Papers that compare Canada with other societies are also most welcome: pressure groups/lobby groups; social movements and their relationship with the state and political rulers; the political activism of particular individuals; particular events that have mobilized citizens in large numbers; transformations in political cultures; the evolution of participatory democracy; political ideas and discourses; the transformation of the state and its apparatus; etc.

Le Royal 22e Régiment sur tous les fronts
À l’occasion du 100e anniversaire de la fondation du Royal 22e Régiment en 2014, un moment de réflexion s’impose sur son rôle et sur sa signification dans tous les domaines : militaire et historique, bien entendu, mais aussi sociologique, anthropologique, politique et culturel pour n’en citer que quelques-uns. Le colloque « Le Royal 22e Régiment sur tous les fronts » s'intéresse donc au passé, au présent et à l'avenir de cette institution militaire qui a joué un rôle important dans l'histoire du Canada et du Québec et qui connaît depuis quelques années une transformation à l'image de la société dans laquelle elle a grandi et s'est distinguée.

Venez le découvrir dans le cadre d'une journée d'étude consacrée aux dernières 370 années de gouvernance montréalaise. L'histoire politique et administrative des villes connaît depuis quelques années un renouveau sans précédent. Au Canada, Montréal est l'un des terrains d'enquête privilégiés par les chercheurs. À l'occasion du 370e anniversaire de la fondation de Ville-Marie, nous proposons de faire le point sur la gouvernance de l'agglomération montréalaise en mettant l'accent sur les acteurs qui détiennent ou influencent le pouvoir et sur l'exercice de ce pouvoir pour résoudre les enjeux auxquels sont confrontés les Montréalais à différentes époques de l'histoire de la ville.
