  Social Rights and Democracy

  We are especially interested in manuscripts on social rights and democracy. Our intent is to prepare a set of discussions on how democracies promote social rights today, i.e., to what extent social movements, legal institutions, parliaments and executive power are able to find solutions to the challenges of democracies today? Have, for example, affirmative action, housing and health care programs, and even direct financial assistance to the poor actually reduced inequality? In addition, what are the most effective solutions for poverty? Are courts the best way to ensure social rights today? We are also interested in papers that address the costs of social programs. These are some of the possibilities, but many other questions may be brought to the table. We encourage submissions based on historical approaches carried out by jurists, political scientists, historians, sociologists, and other professionals in fields that have particular focus on legal problems.

  Derechos Humanos, Democracia y Sistema Económico: mitos y realidades

  Llamada a contribuciones para libro colectivo internacional

  La “Red Iberoamericana de Investigadores sobre Ética, Derechos Humanos y Estado de Derecho” RIEDHED invita a la presentación de trabajos para la edición próxima de un libro colectivo internacional que se titulará “Derechos Humanos, Democracia y Sistema Económico: mitos y realidades”. El propósito de este libro consiste en descifrar rigurosamente los tipos de relaciones que se establecen a nivel social, político, jurídico y económico, entre los derechos humanos, la democracia y el sistema económico de libre mercado. Para lograr este objetivo, las propuestas deberán referirse preferentemente a casos específicos en los que se identifiquen las relaciones de tensión, y tal vez de complementariedad, entre los derechos humanos y otras áreas jurídicas específicas (regulaciones económicas, laborales, tributarias, procesales, administrativas, penales, civiles, etc.).
