International Sociological Association forum of sociology 2020
For the IVth ISA (International Sociological Association) Forum that will take place in Porto Alegre, Brazil, we organize two sessions with the Research Committee Historical Sociology. We would like to welcome contributors from a wide variety of research fields in order to discuss issues related to social, cultural and collective memory. One of the sessions will focus on migrations and diasporic experiences, in particular on family memories. The second session is about intergenerational transmission in families in contexts of mass violence, slavery or war.

Music, Tradition and Creativity in the Digital Era
New Ethnomusicological Perspectives From the Global South
This Symposium will explore how digital media and new technologies have affected the ways through which musicians, producers and researchers experiment and engage with "traditional" musical forms, in Colombia and in other parts of the world. The participants are invited to share their research results and methodological experimentations in the field of applied ethnomusicology, music pedagogy, performance, digital audio production or digital humanities about the study of the impact of digital technologies about current musical practices. This Symposium will also include the presence of several local musicians and producers who will conduct workshops on "traditional" Colombian music and music from other countries of the global South.

Practices of care relations in question
La dimension multiethnique et multiculturelle de la Guyane est un trait constitutif de ce territoire français d’Amérique du sud. En conséquence, des disparités et des hiérarchisations sociales et culturelles sont à l’œuvre et impactent les conditions de vie de la population (Piantoni, 2008). Le professionnel intervenant dans le champ de la protection de l’enfance sera ainsi, à son insu, amené à jauger la question de la bientraitance à l’aune de ses propres outils internes, c’est-à-dire au regard de sa propre expérience d’enfant ayant grandi dans une culture donnée. Comment ces professionnels s’y prennent-ils face à cette altérité culturelle révélant leur propre « sentiment d’être différent » ? Quelle conscience en ont-ils ? Comment cette différence impacte-t-elle leurs pratiques ? Quels retours d’expériences peut-on recueillir dans ces champs de pratiques ?

This dossier aims to disseminate research findings focused on challenges of cultural policies and critical perspectives addressing key cultural issues facing cities and territories today from a comparative point of view. We aim to find out how and if cultural policies are consistent in promoting cultural diversity and social inclusion. The contributors are also invited to offer new theoretical perspectives on cultural policy and to provide for examples of cities and territories that achieved their goals in terms of promotion of cultural diversity and social developement.

This international colloquium will be held from October 16th to 20th 2017, at Praia Vermelha campus from UFRJ, in joint partnership with the IX Migration Forum / Migratic 2017, it is the result of a collaborative and networking initiative organized by researchers from Brazil, France, Canada, Argentina, Spain, the United States, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador and Martinique. The event’s goal is to put together researchers and experts from various countries to discuss the issue of migration in conjunction with the field of social communication, cultural theories, border studies and within the framework of notions such as politics, democracy and citizenship.

Alcances, aportes y problematizaciones
Analizar lo social desde una perspectiva género, ineluctablemente implica dar cuenta de la historicidad política y epistemológica del concepto. El género como categoría heurística guarda en su seno el calor de los debates y las luchas feministas, pero también los intentos de su sistematización teórica. De aquí reside la dificultad que el feminismo -en tanto campo de estudios y praxis política- encuentra al analizar y repensar el binomio género y religión.

Images and identities in carnival
Le bal paré-masqué, rencontre culturelle entre le bal travesti bourgeois et la danse traditionnelle populaire et endiablée, appelée le « kasé-kô », fusion de deux espaces festifs (salon de bal bourgeois et salle de bal populaire) a connu lui aussi quelques évolutions au fil des années. Il suscite un certain nombre d’interrogations : fondements historiques, description et rôle des acteurs qui s’y engagent, évolution et enjeux dans un contexte socio- économique, politique et culturel, spécifique. Ce colloque international pluridisciplinaire permettra de croiser les regards, d’interroger les imaginaires, les discours et représentations concernant les bals masqués de Guyane et d’ailleurs.

La première journée d’étude organisée par le Département de formation et de recherche Langues sciences humaines de la nouvelle université de Guyane vise à réunir des spécialistes de plusieurs disciplines et est destinée à mieux comprendre la reconfiguration de l’espace du plateau des Guyanes et son lien avec les circulations. Il s’agit en effet d'étudier la circulation des individus mais aussi des savoirs, pratiques et représentations qui les caractérisent.

Rewriting: logic of repetition?
III International Conference in Narratives
The third International Conference in Narratives, organized by Universidad EAFIT (Medellín, Colombia) and Università degli Studi di Padova, proposes rewriting as an object of reflection from the arts, humanities, social sciences and communication sciences. To interrogate the gesture of writing a text again, it involves accounting for an operation that, in its apparent simplicity, shows the experience of time and repetition, the recording of memory, the tension between imitation and difference, and the means of reproduction and creation. Along its relationships, objects and notions that it implies, the gesture of rewriting is exemplary and heuristic; it has become a model for understanding various phenomena and cultural practices.

The “Global Culture and Aesthetic Cosmopolitanism” International Conference will discuss the meanings of cultural globalization, its mechanical and hybridizing effects, and its cosmopolitan consequences, from the perspective of global culture and its injunctions through various mediums and objects of cultural consumption (music, TV, books, video games, movies, series, newspapers, comics, blogs, social media, festivals, national heritage). In particular, the conference intends to explore and specify the aesthetic features and foundations of cosmopolitan and translocal cultures.
