  Patrimoine et altérité

  Le 4^e colloque étudiant de l’IPAC propose d’étudier le concept d’altérité et son rôle dans les interactions humaines propres au domaine du patrimoine culturel. Il vise à stimuler une réflexion sur la façon dont la diversité et la pluralité culturelles agissent en tant qu’agents patrimoniaux fédérateurs, d’intégration et de compréhension de « l’Autre » ou comment, au contraire, des ruptures, tensions ou désintégrations du vivre ensemble peuvent se produire. Bref, comment le patrimoine représente-t-il un pont culturel entre Nous et les Autres, ainsi qu’un instrument de division potentiel ? Quel rôle joue le patrimoine et quel levier représente-t-il dans un monde qui semble avoir perdu ses repères, ses racines et son identité ?

  Immigration, diversité ethnoculturelle et citoyenneté

  Le Centre de recherche en immigration, ethnicité et citoyenneté (CRIEC) invite les étudiantes et étudiants des cycles supérieurs, ainsi que les chercheur·e·s en début de carrière à participer à son colloque international et interdisciplinaire. Les communications pourront aborder un large éventail de questions liées à l’immigration, la diversité ethnoculturelle ou la citoyenneté. Plus largement, les propositions qui s’inscrivent dans un des principaux champs d’intérêt de du Centre seront privilégiées.

  Borders, walls and violence

  Costs and Alternatives to Border Fencing

  More border walls and border fences are being built every year all across the world. Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, and Tunisia are among the latest to announce yet another border fence. Twenty-five years ago it was believed that the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reconfiguration of international relations would open an age of globalization in which States would become obsolete, ushering in a world without borders. In the wake of 9/11, however, borders came back in light, new borders were created and new border walls erected. In the wake of the Arab Spring, came even more border barriers and walls, symbols that were thought to have disappeared with the collapse of the bipolar international system. Today, they reinforce borderlines the world over, transforming both soft and semi-permeable borders alike into sealed, exclusionary hard borders. Walls are symbols of identity reaffirmation, markers of State sovereignty, instruments of dissociation, locus of a growing violence.

  Reinventing Citizenship

  Part of the Research Program on: Protest, Justice and Deliberative Power

  The International Network for Alternative Academia invites you to participate to the 7^th International Symposium: Reinventing Citizenship, to be held on Monday 12th to Wednesday 14th of May, 2014 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This trans-disciplinary project seeks to identify central problems of the experience of being a citizen today and evaluate to what degree is citizenship a good vehicle for democratic agency in contemporary societies and democracies the world over.
