  Counts and abbeys in the Frankish world

  West Francia, east Francia and Burgundy (late 9th-late 11th centuries)

  Cette journée d'études proposera un état de la recherche des jeunes chercheurs travaillant sur les espaces francophones et germanophones autour de la question des relations entre comtes et abbayes dans le monde franc durant la période post-carolingienne (de la fin du IX^e siècle à la fin du XI^e siècle). Durant cette période de changements politiques, la manière dont les comtes ont créé et/ou dominé des abbayes (abbatiat laïque, avouerie) et dont les moines ont représenté ces comtes (rouleaux des morts, livres de mémoire, documentation diplomatique) ont fortement évolué, suscitant des conflits, très souvent soulignés par l'historiographie, mais aussi des collaborations importantes, mises en valeur par la recherche récente. Les approches historiographiques diffèrent par ailleurs des deux côtés du Rhin et cette journée attachera une importance particulière à la comparaison des travaux francophones et germanophones.

  Collapse and Resilience of German Missions 1914-1939

  World War I had a devastating impact upon German Missions (Roman Catholic and Protestant). A general description of German mission fields A.D. 1914 will be the starting point of the Conference. Case studies are welcome on particular territories such as Togo, Cameroon, East Africa, South-West Africa, South East Asia, Pacific area, China, India, Middle East. Attention will be paid to the predicament of local "orphaned" Christian churches and communities, and to the relationships between the local leadership with the new foreign missions authorized by the Allies instead of German personnel.

  Religion im historischen Diskurs der Frühen Neuzeit

  Geschichte – Macht – Religion

  Religion wie Politik versuchten im frühneuzeitlichen Europa die historische bzw. historiographische ‚Sphäre‘ zu kontrollieren. Manchmal taten sie das gemeinsam, manchmal in überschneidenden, oftmals auch in antagonistischen Bewegungen. Sie versuchten die wissenstheoretischen Voraussetzungen festzulegen, die praktischen Bedingungen ihrer Entstehung, die historiographischen Gattungen ebenso wie deren Gebrauch und Rezeption : Sie waren Rivalen und Mitarbeiter auf dem gleichen Feld. Die Prozesse des Schreibens, der Formung von Erinnerung und des Gebrauchs alter wie neuer Medien sind dabei gleichmäßig zu berücksichtigen. Ausgehend von dieser Grundlage muss jedoch auch die Frage nach dem ‚Gebrauch‘, den politische wie religiöse Gruppen und Institutionen vom historischen Wissen machten, gestellt werden, besonders in den klassischen Konfliktlagen um administrative Macht, soziale Rollenmodelle, öffentliche Erinnerung, Legitimität und Toleranz
