  Statues, memories and representations during the decolonial era

  Nakan journal, no.1. A cultural studies journal

  Nakan aims to impulse innovation in the epistemological field of cultural margins. To this effect, the journal’s first issue will focus on the following theme: “Statuary, Memories, and Representations in the Decolonial Era”. The objective is to elucidate the recent events that saw the degradation of statues representing historical figures linked to slavery or colonialism in multiple parts of the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and the United States. This topical issue fits in a context-based reflection on margins spurred by such social movements as Black Lives Matter, among others. What could be the core motivations leading to such actions? The journal invites scholars to a scientific investigation on statuaries and colonial discourse, heritage, memory, myth, and coterminous questions.

  Diasporic consciences in the Americas

  Entre le lieu des origines, réel ou imaginé, et celui de l’ancrage actuel et historicisé, le discours sur l’identité diasporique se déploie dans un entre-deux culturel et sociétal qu’il s’agit d’étudier à l’aune de paradigmes scientifiques et d’expériences palpables. L’objet de ce séminaire international consiste à faire émerger de nouvelles socialités et formes d’agentivité fondées sur la conscience diasporique reliant les communautés des Amériques. Les contributions s’enrichiront d’une rencontre interdisciplinaire conciliant des domaines variés : arts et science de l’art, linguistique et  littérature, anthropologie, archéologie, ethnologie, sociologie, histoire et géographie ; toute démarche relevant du champ des sciences sociales et humaines est la bienvenue.

  New approaches to history and heritage in the Caribbean (2011-2012)

  Le séminaire « nouvelles perspectives sur l’histoire et le patrimoine de la Caraïbe » de l’EA 929 AIHP/GEODE en 2011-2012 a la vocation de servir comme lieu d’exposition de travaux en cours dans le domaine de l’histoire caribéenne et de la recherche sur le patrimoine de la Caraïbe. Axé tant sur la présentation de travaux aboutis que sur celle de pistes de recherche ou de réflexion, ce séminaire permettra aux exposants de profiter ainsi des critiques et questionnements pour affiner leur travaux.
