  Postes de doctorant·e·s pour le projet de recherche “Gangs, Gangsters, and Ganglands: Towards a Global Comparative Ethnography” (GANGS)

  The project “Gangs, Gangsters, and Ganglands: Towards a Global Comparative Ethnography” (GANGS) aims to develop a systematic comparative investigation of global gang dynamics, to better understand why they emerge, how they evolve over time, whether they are associated with particular urban configurations, how and why individuals join gangs, and what impact this has on their potential futures. It draws on ethnographic research carried out in Nicaragua, South Africa, and France, adopting an explicitly tripartite focus on “Gangs”, “Gangsters”, and “Ganglands” in order to better explore the interplay between group, individual, and contextual factors. The first will consider the organisational dynamics of gangs, the second will focus on individual gang members and their trajectories before, during, and after their involvement in a gang, while the third will reflect on the contexts within which gangs emerge and evolve.

  Paroles d'enfants : expériences de l'hôpital

  Au croisement de l’anthropologie de l’enfance, médicale et de la santé, ce colloque se propose de faire entendre les paroles des enfants hospitalisés ou fréquentant l’hôpital dans différents contextes géographiques, sociaux et culturels. En collaboration avec les professionnels présents à leur chevet, nous tenterons de comprendre leurs vécus et perceptions de cette expérience qu’est la maladie.

  L'Institut des sciences du sport de l'universté de Lausanne (ISSUL) met au concours un poste de doctorant ou doctorante FNS pour la réalisation d'une thèse de doctorat en sciences du sport, orientation histoire, éventuellement dans le cadre d’une cotutelle internationale. Cette thèse sera réalisée dans le cadre du programme de recherche « Une histoire sociale et culturelle comparée du rôle des mouvements de jeunesse et des sports dans les décolonisations du Rwanda, de l’Afrique Occidentale française et de l’Ouganda (1930-1970) ».

  Nouveaux mouvements religieux : retours croisés des Afriques aux Amériques

  La circulation transatlantique des croyances et des pratiques religieuses date de la « Découverte » de l’Amérique. Cela fait plus de cinq siècles que le commerce des idées et des pratiques s’effectue des deux côtés de l’Atlantique. L’immigration européenne et africaine sur le nouveau continent fut longtemps le lot de mouvements religieux considérés comme hérétiques ou païens par les tenants des Églises instituées et ils ont conduit à l’éclosion de nouvelles pratiques et croyances intégrées dans un imaginaire religieux rapidement qualifié de « syncrétique » : vaudou haïtien, rastafari, candomblé, etc. Depuis plusieurs dizaines d’années, un nouveau phénomène apparaît : la vague du pentecôtisme.

  International Peacekeeping in Africa: Actors and Missions

  The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich in Switzerland will hold a conference the 23-24 November 2012 on International Peacekeeping in Africa, with a particular focus on current actors and missions. Over the last decades, the African continent has witnessed a proliferation of peacekeeping missions. Simultaneously, an increasing number of actors have become involved in the effort to bring peace to Africa, and this in turn has led to new and diverse types of operations. This conference seeks to analyze these developments in their entirety and comparatively in order to identify the most significant challenges and trends in international peacekeeping in Africa.
