The contemporary and robotic scene: exchanges and collaborations

Il convient de constater qu’aujourd’hui de nombreux artistes introduisent des solutions robotiques dans leurs créations et interrogent ainsi plusieurs visions esthétiques et concepts trans- et posthumanistes. La scène du XXI^e siècle semble être à la pointe des développements actuels de la robotique, comme l’indique le nombre croissant des nouvelles productions dans ce domaine. Pour les roboticiens, cela se traduit par le développement de comportements sociocognitifs cohérents qui produisent chez les spectateurs une illusion de vie, un sentiment d'être en présence de créatures intelligentes et socialement conscientes. Dans les mêmes termes, la scène peut être considérée comme un espace privilégié pour l'étude des comportements humains, où différentes technologies peuvent être déployées pour capturer et modéliser les contingences sensorimotrices humaines. En conséquence, la scène devient un scénario semi-structuré idéal pour le développement de métriques, modèles, techniques et algorithmes capables de décrire l'interaction entre les humains et entre les humains et les robots socialement intelligents.

Les liens entre pandémie, pauvreté, politique sociale et intervention sont au cœur de ce colloque de deux jours du comité de recherche 34 « Intervention et politiques sociales » de l’Association des sociologues de langue française (AISLF) qui sera organisé à la Haute école de travail social et de la santé HETSL (HES-SO). Il aura lieu à Lausanne (Suisse) du 11 février 2021 au 12 février 2021. Les contributions à distance, notamment pour des contraintes sanitaires, seront acceptées.

Minimising Risks, Selling Promises?

Reproductive Health, Techno-Scientific Innovations and the Production of Ignorance

Over the last decades, medical techno-scientific innovations have radically transformed reproductive processes at every level by putting the reproductive body under strict biomedical surveillance and submitting it to significant technological manipulation. Most of these innovations, often promoted as miracles and even revolutions, were generalised very rapidly thanks to ever-growing national and global markets. Their side effects on health were, however, insufficiently studied, or even ignored, until scandals (diethylstilbestrol, thalidomide, primodos, Dalkon Shield) or controversies (contraceptive pill, hormonal replacement therapy) unavoidably made them public. At the crossroads of STS, sociology of risk, medical anthropology, gender studies and ignorance studies, the aim of this international conference is to analyse the dynamics of ignorance production prior to, during but also after the rapid expansion of reproductive technologies, innovations and products.

Representations and experiences of the young faced with protection

À travers cette journée scientifique, il s’agit d’une part de présenter un panorama général des représentations et des expériences des jeunes adultes, issu-e-s ou non de la migration, concernant la contraception et les infections sexuellement transmissibles. Ce tour d’horizon sera mené à partir des résultats de recherches canadiennes, françaises et suisses. Il s’agit d’autre part d’échanger et de confronter le regard avec des professionnel-le-s de la santé sexuelle afin de réfléchir ensemble à des pistes d’intervention pour une prise en charge optimale, en tenant compte des contextes de vie des jeunes migrant-e-s. Cette journée scientifique cherche à ouvrir un espace d’information, d’échange et de discussion sur ces thématiques en portant une attention particulière au parcours migratoire, au genre et aux facteurs socio-économiques.

Medical expertise in the 20th and 21st century / Medizinische Expertise im 20. und 21. Jahrhundert / L'expertise médicale aux XXe et XXIe siècles. Annual conference of the Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Sciences, September 5 – 7, 2013, Bern, Switzerland. The conference would like to address the issue from various perspectives and ask e.g. the following questions: To which levels of medical knowledge and activity (skill, professional knowledge, experience, relationship with patients) did and does the claim of expertise refer to? Which strategies, rhetorics and kinds of self-fashioning were and are used in order to achieve, retain or reject the status of expertise? Which was and is the relationship between expertise, profession(nalism), institutionalization and specialization? In what respect is there a difference between a physician's claim of expertise and that of other health professionals?

Inversement, les sciences humaines et sociales ont parfois tendance à remettre en cause l’imprévisibilité (autant des causes que des conséquences) d’un événement, en recontextualisant les raisons de son surgissement et en analysant l’instrumentalisation dont il fait l’objet.

Comment se redessinent les espaces de l’urbain généralisé en ce début de siècle ? À quoi les villes du XXIème siècle vont-elles ressembler ? Quels nouveaux défis l’urbanisme doit-il relever ? Comment composer ensemble un espace urbain de qualité, cohérent et lisible ? Comment travailler à la modernisation écologique des espaces urbains sans compromettre l’équité des usages ? De quelles manières l’urbanisme peut-il produire une offre urbaine (logements, transports, services, équipements, espaces communs, ambiances, etc.) à la fois écologique et attentive aux impératifs de la justice urbaine ? Comment prendre davantage en compte le souci de l’usage, le fonctionnement du projet et son insertion urbaine aux différentes échelles d’interférence ? Tels sont les grands questionnements autour desquels ce colloque souhaite (re)ouvrir le débat et alimenter la réflexion.
