  Postes de doctorant·e·s pour le projet de recherche “Gangs, Gangsters, and Ganglands: Towards a Global Comparative Ethnography” (GANGS)

  The project “Gangs, Gangsters, and Ganglands: Towards a Global Comparative Ethnography” (GANGS) aims to develop a systematic comparative investigation of global gang dynamics, to better understand why they emerge, how they evolve over time, whether they are associated with particular urban configurations, how and why individuals join gangs, and what impact this has on their potential futures. It draws on ethnographic research carried out in Nicaragua, South Africa, and France, adopting an explicitly tripartite focus on “Gangs”, “Gangsters”, and “Ganglands” in order to better explore the interplay between group, individual, and contextual factors. The first will consider the organisational dynamics of gangs, the second will focus on individual gang members and their trajectories before, during, and after their involvement in a gang, while the third will reflect on the contexts within which gangs emerge and evolve.

  Poste de doctorant en méthodes quantitatives pour les sciences sociales

  Le doctorant écrira une thèse sous la supervision du Dr M. Studer et du Prof. G. Ritschard dans le cadre du projet de recherche IP 214 du NCCR LIVES « Measuring and modelling vulnerability dynamics in a life-course context ». Ce projet de recherche vise à formaliser un cadre général pour la modélisation quantitative de la vulnérabilité dans les parcours de vie. Ceci inclut deux aspects : la mesure et la conceptualisation de la vulnérabilité comme un état ou un risque (tel que le risque de se retrouver dans une situation non-voulue) et comme un processus (tel que les processus de désaffiliation sociale). Dans un deuxième temps, le projet de recherche se centrera sur les méthodes permettant de mesurer comment la vulnérabilité (mesurée comme un état ou un processus) est lié à des facteurs explicatifs individuels (sexe, classe sociale…) ou contextuels (taux de chômage, politiques sociales…). Une application du cadre méthodologique développé en socioéconomie, tel que la vulnérabilité dans le domaine de l’emploi, est également prévue.

  Assistant HES (Doctoral student) at Geneva School of Business Administration

  The Geneva School of Business Administration (HEG-Geneva) offers a Research Assistant (Doctoral student) position for three years starting from 1^st September 2013.The doctoral student will participate to the project « Organizing, Communicating, and Costing in Risk Governance: Learning Lessons from the H1N1 Pandemic », financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation. He or she will be in charge of the research components dedicated to costing around H1N1. This comparative study will involve qualitative fieldwork in three countries, namely Switzerland, the United States and Japan. He or she will collaborate with a post-doctoral fellow focusing on issues related to organization and communication. He or she will have to write a PhD thesis on H1N1 costing issues and will be supervised by Prof. Nathalie Brender. The project is funded for three years.

  Un poste de post-doctorat de trois ans au département de sociologie, université de Genève (80%)

  Le/la post-doc que nous recrutons sur un poste à 80% participera durant 3 ans au projet financé par le fonds national Suisse de la recherche scientifique (dirigé par la prof. Mathilde Bourrier): « Organizing, Communicating, and Costing in Risk Governance: Learning Lessons from the H1N1 Pandemic ». Il/Elle travaillera plus particulièrement sur les deux composantes du projet portant sur les facteurs organisationnels et communicationnels de la gestion de la pandémie, en Suisse, aux États-Unis et au Japon. La personne recherchée a obtenu son doctorat en sociologie ou en anthropologie depuis moins de 3 ans, d'excellentes capacités à mener des terrains de recherche dans plusieurs pays, et d'un intérêt marqué pour les questions de santé globale (global health).
