  First international seminar for post-graduate students in Sport History

  A first international seminar for PHD and post-graduate students in sport history (political and cultural perspectives) supervised by Prof. Dave Day (Manchester Metropolitan University) and Prof. J.-F. Loudcher (Bordeaux) is planned at Bordeaux between the 11^th September and the 13^th September 2017. It is the first of a series of seminars between the two universities (the next will be in Manchester) and will provides an opportunity to establish new relationsships and partnerships with students ands researchers from all over the world. In addition, this one will have a workshop on European project research funding on cultural and political sport coaching in a comparative way for an application in 2018. It is possible to just attend the seminar and the workshop.

Les codes de la masculinité, que chaque petit mâle apprend consciemment et inconsciemment dès sa naissance, passent aussi par des fictions audiovisuelles depuis que le cinéma puis la télévision sont devenus une part dominante de la culture de masse, en particulier par des genres plus spécifiquement destinés au public masculin (action, guerre, aventure, policier, science-fiction) et par des stars masculines qui fonctionnent comme des modèles.

  Historicising Deliberative Democracy

  The last thirty years have seen the burgeoning of political and academic speeches on the merits of participative or deliberative democracy. In parallel, in occidental democracies, various systems sharing the ambition to strengthen or increase citizen participation through collective discussion on public issues are being institutionalized. These devices are often viewed today as a novel cure to the present crisis of representative governance. This panel, at the crossroads of sociology, history and political science, aims at historicizing such deliberation necessity and at redrawing the genesis of the phenomenon as speech and political practice.
