  Summer School in Global and Transnational History: Debating the Past in an Age of Global Disruption

  The Department of History and Civilization (HEC) at the European University Institute (EUI) is happy to announce its sixteenth Summer School in Global and Transnational History, which will take place in September 2020 in the historic Villa Salviati, looking out over the hills of Florence. The Summer School will combine discussion of methodological issues in global, transnational and comparative history with case studies by leading specialists from the European University Institute and other major universities.

  New Dimensions of the Political: Gaia and the Republic

  The Spring School, organized by Alexander Etkind (European University Institute) and Oleg Kharkhordin (European University at St. Petersburg), will focus on three major concentrations: classical republicanism and its modern relevance; climate crisis and the modern state; nature in history and philosophy.

  The Department of History and Civilization at the European University Institute (EUI) is happy to announce its fifteenth Summer School in Global and Transnational History, which will take place in September 2019 in the historic Villa Salviati, looking out over the hills of Florence. The Summer School will combine discussion of methodological issues in global, transnational and comparative history with case studies by leading specialists from the European University Institute and other major universities. The structure will consist on general introductions and discussions about the new emerging fields of environmental history, guest lectures and reading groups. Contributions on the specific theme of 'Reconceptualizing the past in the age of climate change (1500 to present)’ are now welcome.

  Cette école d’été sera dédiée aux masses de données spatiales apparues avec l’évolution numérique des quinze dernières années. L’ambition est de proposer aux participant-e-s : un tour d’horizon de la façon dont ces données sont et peuvent être utilisées pour nourrir une recherche sur des dynamiques territoriales ; d’apprendre des savoir-faire (méthodes et outils) contemporains pour traiter ces nouvelles sources de données.

  Les moyens de paiement aux époques médiévale et moderne

  Quatrième école d'été d'histoire économique

  La quatrième école d’été d’histoire économique se propose d’aborder la question des moyens de paiement utilisés dans les échanges au Moyen Âge et à l’époque moderne, prolongeant ainsi une réflexion collective sur la valeur et sa mesure, ainsi que sur les moyens matériels et intellectuels à la disposition des agents pour réaliser au mieux leurs transactions. Cette question des supports de paiement et des modalités de leur utilisation, largement débattue ces dernières années par l’anthropologie et par l’économie, fait l’objet d’un traitement renouvelé en ce qui concerne la période préindustrielle.

  Bien(s) commun(s) et biens collectifs (Moyen Âge - époque moderne)

  Troisième école d'été d'histoire économique

  La troisième école d’été d’histoire économique, qui se réunira à Florence (Villa Finaly), les 27, 28 et 29 août 2014, aura comme thème « le(s) bien(s) commun(s) et les biens collectifs aux époques médiévale et moderne ». Elle rassemblera des chercheurs, des enseignants-chercheurs, des chercheurs postdoctoraux, et des doctorants de toutes nationalités. L’organisation prendra en charge l’essentiel des frais de déplacement et de séjour (sauf les repas du soir qui seront libres). Des places sont disponibles pour les jeunes chercheurs.
