Communismes et dissidences politiques

Dans la pensée sociale contemporaine et dans le mouvement ouvrier international, l'idée de communisme, ainsi que le grand espoir suscité par la révolution russe de 1917, ont fait leur chemin, en tant qu'utopie et en tant que praxis politique, entre querelles virulentes et des polémiques sans fin, semant des dissensions, des guerres verbales, des sectarismes profonds et d'inconciliables différenciations. Le colloque entend être un espace de présentation de travaux et de débat, nourris à partir des différentes expériences historiques, des divers contextes conjoncturels et dans des cadres tendanciellement globalisants.

Insularities and enclaves in colonial and post-colonial circumstances

Crossings, conflicts and identitarian constructions (15th - 21st centuries)

Historically, archipelagos were considered as rehearsal spaces for new social constructions. Since colonization and, afterwards, colonialism and imperialism, many of them evolved in association with the strengthening of international networks, while others did not escape isolation and forced unequal integration in different spaces. On the other hand, enclaves were the outcome of historical circumstances, often externally decided, which prompted some degree of insularity regarding the immediate geographical surroundings. When those territories did not become independent, there were demands for autonomy or, at least, some underlying emancipatory and anti-colonialist feelings. Even when these feelings did not mobilize relevant segments of the population, they disclose the alterity – above all cultural – in regard to sovereignty.

Binet (ISSSL-ULL) et de Stéphane Rullac (IRTS Paris Île-de-France), ces numéros Hors-série, qui bénéficieront d'une circulation internationale dans les mondes lusophone et francophone, ont pris pour thème principal l'un des principaux paradigmes de la recherche en Travail social : la Recherche-action collaborative (RAC).

Resistance and Empire, new approaches and comparisons

Since the early twentieth century, the notion of resistance became common currency in colonial language and anti-colonial ideologies to refer to military, political, and other forms of countering the authority of the colonizing institutions and agents in the colonies. After World War II and the boom of decolonization, it became an important tool in the critical and conceptual analysis of colonialism as a relationship of domination and opposition. Consequently, a wealth of studies was produced that focused on the ways though which indigenous people actively opposed, rebelled, or contested – militarily, politically, symbolically, culturally – the colonizing presence of Europeans. In the 1990s-2000s the validity of taking on “resistance” as a privileged concept and empirical topic was criticized for reducing the colonial phenomenon to a simplistic dichotomy – and since it appeared to have lost much of its early vitality in historical and anthropological research on empires and colonialism. Yet, since decolonization, ideas of “liberation” and anti-colonial resistance did not lose their significance as powerful tropes in retrospective nationalist readings of the birth of post- colonial nation-states. More recently, across the social sciences, “resistance” as a concept and a research trope seems to be revived, and a trans-disciplinary field of ‘resistance studies’ appears to come into emergence. What it means to study “resistance” both conceptually and comparatively in colonial and imperial history today?

Infeção do VIH entre grupos de difícil acesso

A II Conferência Internacional sobre a infeção do VIH entre grupos de difícil acesso (HSH - Homens que Fazem Sexo com Homens e TS - Trabalhadores do Sexo), terá lugar em Lisboa, na Aula Magna do Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical nos dias 25 e 26 de Março de 2013.

Serão apresentados os resultados da investigação levada a cabo pelo GAT em parceria com o IHMT, com o patrocínio do Programa Nacional para a Infeção VIH/SIDA - DGS, sobre Prevalência, Determinantes e Intervenções de Prevenção e Acesso aos Serviços de Saúde, em populações de difícil acesso, nomeadamente HSH e TS. Para além de uma vasta lista de especialistas reconhecidos nacional e internacionalmente, estarão presentes membros das comunidades HSH e TS e várias ONG´s e instituições que trabalham com estas populações e com o VIH/SIDA.

Novas substâncias psicoativas – políticas públicas e investig(ação)

Propõe-se com esta conferência um envolvimento e discussão institucional que se revele determinante na construção de uma resposta nacional para o fenómeno das drogas “legais”. O CNJ considera muito importante abrir canais de comunicação institucional onde se promova uma reflexão política, académica e empírica para encontrar metodologias de intervenção eficazes de combate ao consumo destas novas substâncias, com particular atenção no consumo entre os jovens portugueses. Esta conferência é organizada pelo Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia do Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), em parceria com o Conselho Nacional de Juventude (CNJ), Instituto do Desporto e Juventude, I.P (IPDJ,I.P.) e Serviço de Intervenção nos Comportamentos Aditivos e nas Dependências (SICAD).

Social sciences, policy developments and social movements

In contemporary Europe, we are witnessing the vanishing of anti-racism from political cultures and academic discourses, in favour of an approach that intervenes on immigrants and minorities themselves via public rhetoric on integration. This conference will thus bring together an international community engaging in debates on racism and anti-racism to discuss the analytical approaches and main findings of the European research project TOLERACE - The semantics of tolerance and (anti-)racism in Europe: public bodies and civil society in comparative perspective, coordinated by the Centre for Social Studies.

Desvendando o teatro: criatividade, públicos e território

Neste colóquio, Lucien Karpik (Valuing the Unique, 2007, 2011) e Ann Markusen (Creative Placemaking, 2010) dialogam sobre o valor dos mercados singulares, a criatividade, os públicos, mostrando como é que a arte, a cultura e o teatro em particular dão contribuições especiais para o desenvolvimento das economias locais, promovem a competitividade e geram emprego. Juntam-se a esta discussão os investigadores portugueses reconhecidos pelos seus trabalhos na área da cultura, arte, públicos, dinamização cultural, território, e apresentam-se novas linhas de investigação, plataformas colaborativas e de atuação para pesquisas futuras. O debate alarga-se aos decisores políticos, artistas, produtores culturais, jornalistas, todos os investigadores interessados e comunidade em geral.

Em distintos contextos, múltiplos acontecimentos marcariam esse ano, prenúncio do final do regime colonial-fascista português. Porque uma das linhas de orientação temática do CES aposta no aprofundar do conhecimento sobre o espaço de expressão portuguesa – e sobre as suas ligações históricas – este conjunto de sessões procura reflectir sobre um espaço unido por várias histórias e lutas.
