The international conference Breaking Boundaries: Academia, Activism and the Arts proposes to bring into focus and critically question common grounds and boundaries between and within the Humanities, political activity and aesthetic production.At a time when boundaries are simultaneously questioned and reinforced – for example between geographical territories, political states, public and private spheres, gendered bodies, creative media, theory and practice, local and global, human, non-human and post-human – the question of what such frontiers stand for, and how and why they might be transgressed offers itself for and, indeed, urges discussion.

Programme ATLAS 2018

La Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme (FMSH) et l’Instituto de Ciências Sociais (ICS) de l’Université de Lisbonne proposent une aide à la mobilité pour un séjour au Portugal de 3 mois à un jeune chercheur confirmé affilié à une université française. Cette aide à la mobilité est destinée à réaliser des travaux de recherche au Portugal au sein de l’ICS : enquêtes de terrain, travail en bibliothèques et archives. Cet appel s’inscrit dans le cadre du Programme Atlas de mobilité post-doctorale de courte durée lancé par la FMSH et ses partenaires.

Todas estas formas se revestem de particular interesse para este congresso. Muitas cidades podem ser consideradas paradigmáticas: Atenas ou Roma, na Antiguidade Clássica; Veneza e Florença, como reflexo das dinâmicas transformações do Renascimento; Londres, Paris e Berlim, como capitais da Modernidade; Nova Iorque, Rio de Janeiro, Tóquio ou Xangai, como epítomes das novas metrópoles em franco crescimento.

7th Colloquium on Translation Studies

Two hundred years after his famous lecture at the Royal Academy of Science in Berlin, during the Napoleonic era, Friedrich Schleiermacher still remains an assiduous presence in Translation Studies bibliography all over the world. His definition of two (and only two) methods of translating has become indispensable to the common core vocabulary of both translators and researchers of translation alike. This binary opposition dates back to Saint Jerome, or even Cicero (De Oratore) and still retains all of its attractiveness, being referred to by different designations such as translation methods, strategies, procedures or norms.

A relação entre os media e o império português é o tema principal da conferência internacional que se realizará a 1 e 2 de Novembro de 2013 em Lisboa. A conferência tem uma base interdisciplinar, acolhendo estudos de jornalismo, comunicação, história, literatura, sociologia, geografia, antropologia e história da arte, entre outros domínios dos estudos humanísticos e das ciências sociais, que contribuam para a melhor compreensão das relações entre os media e a política imperial de Portugal desde o século XVIII até finais da década de 1970.

Vozes transmontanas na paisagem

A ligação entre território e literatura é o tema deste encontro, que terá como eixos de análise as paisagens representadas nas obras de Manuel Vaz de Carvalho, Bento da Cruz e A.M. Pires Cabral e as temáticas regionais e ambientais por elas suscitadas. Partindo de depoimentos dos escritores e de conterrâneos, de imagens recolhidas nas magníficas paisagens transmontanas – em Vila Real, Macedo de Cavaleiros e Montalegre – e dos textos literários, esta iniciativa enquadrada pelos projectos LITESCAPE.PT – Atlas das Paisagens Literárias de Portugal Continental e Memoriamedia, propõe-se valorizar a paisagem e as experiências da paisagem enquanto processos de transformação dos elementos naturais e culturais.

O objectivo deste colóquio é convocar investigadores de ciências sociais e humanas para olhar para Alves Redol - o homem, a obra e a sua produção -, bem como para as conjunturas nacionais e internacionais que se reflectem nos contextos tratados nos seus livros. Pretendemos que seja lido por antropólogos, historiadores, geógrafos, sociólogos, etnógrafos, folcloristas, etc. e que sejam as realidades, os processos e os agentes sociais que se tornem o fulcro da análise, numa ou em várias obras do autor.

Cette conférence propose une approche différente et novatrice : l'adoption d'une perspective analytique à long terme des adaptations des êtres vivants dans la nature, et la recherche d'une approche interdisciplinaire.Le programme est organisé en quatre thèmes : L'érosion et la population, paysages imaginés, espace et climat, réponses de l'homme aux conditions météorologiques.La dernière conférence traite de l'importance du changement climatique pour l'avenir de l'humanité.

Le congrès s´organisera en séances plénières (qui compteront sur l´intervention de spécialistes invités), et en séances parallèles réunissant des communications sélectionnées par la commission scientifique. Afin de construire cette zone de confluences entre savoirs et domaines de connaissance, la réflexion s´articulera préférentiellement autour des axes thématiques suivants : I. politesse, courtoisie et construction (rhétorique et culturelle) de la sociabilité ; II. stratégies linguistiques et textuelles de la politesse ; III. manifestations artistiques et littéraires de la politesse.
