  Bearing Witness to Traumatic Experiences: Cultural Productions of Uyghurs in Exile

  PhD position in Asian Studies

  This Ph.D. position is funded by a MIS (Mandat d’Impulsion Scientifique/ Incentive Grant for Scientific Research) project: “Bearing Witness to Traumatic Experiences: Cultural Productions of Uyghurs in Exile”. Uyghurs are a Turkic-speaking people based at the border of Central Asia and the north-western part of China. Massive internments and arrests of hundreds of thousands of Uyghurs have taken place in the region since 2016, including the Uyghur elite. In these conditions, centers of the cultural production of the Uyghurs have shifted from their native land to the diaspora spread across the world. This project looks at Uyghur diasporic cultural production that aims at drawing the world’s attention and bearing witness to the various abuses perpetrated at home by the Chinese government. The whole project analyses selected poems, short films, video clips, and dance and music performances to tackle new transmedial forms of testimonies in the Uyghur case.

  Post-doctorat dans le programme de recherche LIMAH (Linking Media in Acceptable Hypergraphs) sur les pratiques de constructions de recherche d'informations à partir d'Hypergraphes

  Available multimedia content is rapidly increasing in scale and diversity, yet today, multimedia data remain mostly unconnected, i.e., with no explicit links between related fragments. LIMAH aims at exploring hypergraph structures for multimedia collections, instantiating actual links between fragments of multimedia documents, where links reflect particular content-based proximity—similar content, thematic proximity, opinion expressed, answer to a question, etc. LIMAH leverages technological aspects and usage aspects from the standpoint of law and human science to apprehend linked media contents globally and develop a long term vision of the domain in addition to scientific and technological contributions.

  Dans le cadre d'une recherche sur la conception et la circulation des produits culturels destinés aux enfants, financée par le Labex ICCA (Sorbonne Paris Cité), nous recrutons un.e post-doctorant.e (de septembre 2014 à août 2015). La personne recrutée, titulaire d'un doctorat en sciences humaines ou sociales, devra participer à cette recherche en particulier à travers une étude ethnographique (observation et entretiens) au sein d'entreprises concevant des produits « culturels » destinés aux enfants (jeux, jouets, produits numériques, livres,…).
