17th international Slav studies conference
Le XVIIe congrès international des slavistes se tiendra à Paris, au Centre Malesherbes de Sorbonne Université du 28 août au 1er septembre 2023. Ce congrès, qui réunit tous les cinq ans les slavistes du monde entier — spécialistes de langue, littérature, histoire, — s’est tenu pour la première fois à Prague en 1929. C’est la première fois dans son histoire qu’il se réunira dans un pays non-slave, l’année même du centenaire de l’Institut d’études slaves.

Imagining the Future of Multilingualism
Education and Society at a Turning Point
Since 2008, the Conseil Européen pour les Langues / European Language Council (CEL/ELC) has hosted a Forum every two years. These Fora seek to bring together representatives of higher education institutions, of European institutions and organisations, such as, for example, the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Council of Europe, and of European associations like the European University Association (EUA) as well as scholars with a special interest in European integration, policy development, and multilingualism. At the centre of 2020 discussions will be the role that Higher Education can and should play in the promotion and development of multilingualism as a key aspect of European cooperation – related to facets such as language policy, internationalisation, language and knowledge, education and mobility, to mention just a few. In this context, participants will also reflect on the future role of the CEL/ELC by identifying and analysing new challenges that have arisen in our changing world.

Textual forms: language and socio-cultural markers
L’objectif de ce numéro de la revue Passerelle est de s’interroger sur les stratégies discursives et extra-discursives qui permettent d’accéder au sens et de déterminer les contraintes qui pèsent sur les formes textuelles en mettant l’accent sur la portée du genre de discours dans la matérialisation des productions textuelles. En privilégiant un axe pluridisciplinaire, ce numéro a pour ambition d’appréhender d’une part le cadre de la description linguistique, sémiotique, littéraire, didactique, pragmatique les textes et les discours en mettant l’accent sur leurs effets sur l’acte d’interprétation du sens et d’autre part de se questionner sur le lien entre le discours (dans ses différentes acceptions, littéraire, médiatique, journalistique, scientifique, scolaire, politique, publicitaire, filmique etc.) et son appartenance culturelle.

This issue of Mémoires du livre / Studies in Book Culture invites submissions in the field of Book History in the Nordic countries. The aim is to display the diversity and growth of the field and to highlight ongoing research and recent advancements.

Illness as Metaphor in the Latin Middle Ages
Leeds International Medieval Congress 2021
The session seeks to provide a forum for scholars to reflect on the variation and functions of metaphors of illness in the Latin writing of the Middle Ages. We encourage papers that investigate how the imagery of morbus, pestilentia, gangraena etc. structured individual experience and how it shaped self-knowledge and practices of communities. We invite original contributions that critically examine the role that Latin metaphors of illness played in medieval discourse as a tool of explaining reality and as a rhetorical device used to impose specific world views.

Session at The Renaissance Society of America Annual Meeting 2021
This panel aims to bring together coordinators of digital projects - completed or in progress - around the lexicon and the scientific edition of texts of artistic or technical literature, with researchers who have adopted this terminological approach to analyze in an innovative way well known or unpublished texts, related to the production, the practice of the arts and interpretative theories derived from practice and which marked the history of taste. The papers will aim to provoke discussions about the method, contributions and perspectives of the lexicographic approach in the artistic field, in an interdisciplinary logic, in order to federate language historians, digital humanities specialists and art historians.

The choice of prefabricated expressions, descriptive methods and didactic approaches
Cet appel s’adresse aux chercheurs et aux enseignants qui s’intéressent aux éléments phraséologiques de la langue pour leur enseignement en classe de langue étrangère. La revue Action Didactique encourageant les contributions qui portent sur les nouvelles approches d’enseignement/apprentissage du français (français sur objectifs spécifiques, universitaires, français langue professionnelle, etc.), qui prennent en compte la dimension plurilingue et pluriculturelle, les contributions portant sur ces problématiques seront également bien accueillies. Comme la didactique des langues est par essence une science interdisciplinaire, des études qui s’inscrivent dans l’une de ses disciplines contributives (sciences du langage, sciences de l’éducation, etc.) peuvent être acceptées, notamment lorsqu’elles entretiennent une relation avec l’enseignement/apprentissage du français.

Dynamics and ethico-epistemological issue of life narratives: thinking in terms of experience
Le récit de vie, qui connait diverses déclinaisons, est une piste de départ intéressante pour visibiliser des enjeux importants, sous-jacents à cette rencontre. Longtemps minoré en sciences humaines, bien que déjà exploité en un certain sens par l’école de Chicago, le récit de vie peut bien prétendre à jouer un rôle majeur, en tant que partie prenante d’un récit qualitatif de recherche, dans la compréhension des autres, et pour autant qu’on le réinterroge. Dans cette perspective, les réflexions menées donneront lieu à des éléments de présentation (historiques, disciplinaires, etc.) ainsi qu’à une sorte de glossaire d’entrées d’empan variable (par exemple les notions d’expérience, d’appropriation, d’historialité, d’altéroréflexivité, etc.), méthodologiquement désambiguïsées à partir des orientations épistémologiques propres aux auteurs et situées explicitement.

Dogmas and paradigms of marginality in the arts and contemporary Hispanic literature
L'objectif de ce colloque est de s'interroger sur les représentations du personnage marginal dans les arts et la littérature hispanique contemporaine. Dans une approche pluridisciplinaire, nous cherchons à comprendre comment ce phénomène qui traverse les frontières est perçu ou dénoncé dans un pays voisin comme l'Espagne ou bien dans des aires plus lointaines telles que les pays de l'Amérique latine ? Quel discours, littéraire ou artistique, veillera à ne pas résumer l'individualité du marginal à des principes normalisés et standardisants ? Et quelles ruptures culturelles, sociétales ou linguistiques produit l'apparition du marginal en le repensant comme l'ineffable épuisement de nos systèmes de référence ?

Poetry and Politics in the Viking and Norman Diasporas (Ninth-Thirteenth Centuries)
The conference will address the relationships between poetry and power in the medieval world, fostering exchanges between historians and scholars in the fields of Latin and vernacular literatures. The poems under scrutiny will be those composed in the Viking and Norman diasporas between the ninth and the thirteenth century, covering a wide geographical expanse, from Iceland to Southern Italy, through Britain and Ireland, Scandinavia, Kievan Rus’ and part of the Latin East. The main questions which will be studied are: (1) the specific context for the composition of political poetry (e.g. encomiastic or satiric); (2) poetry as a means for the representation of power or the transmission of moral or religious conceptions (e.g. mirrors for princes, didactic or gnomic poetry); (3) the reasons for preferring poetry over prose in order to convey political ideas.
