  Mendicants on the Margins

  The symposium aims to bring together researchers working on aspects of mendicant orders traditionally considered as “marginal”, be it in geographical, topographical, gendered or historical terms, in order to go beyond the artificial construct of centrality and marginality, and get a fuller understanding of the impact of the mendicants on all levels of medieval society across Europe.

  The Cathedral transfigured

  Gazes, myths and conflicts

  À l'occasion de la présentation rouennaise au printemps 2014 de l'exposition préparée par le musée des beaux-arts de Rouen en partenariat avec le musée Wallraf-Richartz & Fondation Corboud de Cologne où elle ouvrira à l'automne 2014, le colloque international « La cathédrale transfigurée. Regards Mythes Conflits » se propose d'en indiquer divers prolongements, et d'ouvrir des pistes de recherches qui complèteront le parcours de visite chrono-thématique et transnational de l'exposition, organisée dans un cadre franco-allemand. La poétique de la cathédrale cristallise la réflexion sur le passé gothique et l'art contemporain. Elle s'inscrit aussi dans l'histoire des conflits, des destructions et des ruines, depuis l'iconoclasme révolutionnaire jusqu'à celui de la Grande Guerre, dont la grande ombre perdure en 2014.
