  La question de la crédibilité de la recherche scientifique à l'heure des « faits alternatifs »

  Post-vérité ? La notion, popularisée en 2016, année marquée par le Brexit et l’élection de Donald Trump à la présidence des États-Unis, désigne une configuration politique et médiatique dans laquelle la crédibilité d’un discours repose moins sur son adéquation aux faits que sur sa correspondance avec les croyances et les pulsions émotives. Le phénomène interroge la place de la recherche scientifique dans le débat public et politique. Pour faire face aux défis générés par ce phénomène, des chercheurs de toutes disciplines unissent leur force pour organiser un colloque les 5 et 6 octobre 2021 sur le campus bordelais, dans le cadre des trente ans de l’Institut universitaire de France.

  Le fonctionnement de la pensée est une spécificité humaine qui se manifeste à travers le langage, une compétence supposée innée. Tout être humain est prédisposé à parler n’importe quelle langue au monde dans des conditions sociales particulières qui en fixent la pertinence et les significations. Et toute langue possède une infinité d’énoncés. En effet, la langue est un importantissime outil de communication inter et extracommunautaire. Elle peut être naturelle, artificielle ou signée. La langue est non seulement influencée par son environnement (contact avec les autres langues, démographie des locuteurs) mais elle a également une durée de vie limitée dans le temps. Plusieurs langues sont « mortes ». Certaines ont subi de profondes mutations. D’autres, par contre, ont changé de statut ou sont inscrites dans un processus de survivance.

  Curiosity, Intellectual Enterprises and Scientific Explorations in the Writings of Women in the Early Modern Period (16th-18th centuries)

  The subject of this international conference is the participation of women in the development of scientific ideas from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment. It welcomes reflections on women’s intellectual contributions to the creation of the « Republic of Letters », and how female curiosity was connected to the development of a new rationality that opened new paths towards modern science, while simultaneously being stimulated by the marvellous and the strange, as was manifest in the creation of scientific cabinets and collections of rare objects. It aims at encouraging reflections on the concept of female scientific curiosity. This will allow us to discuss the construction of a female subjectivity emerged from new approaches towards collections of naturalia.

  The Middle Ages of the Social Sciences

  The present issue of the Revue d’histoire des sciences humaines intends to gather inquiries into specific uses of the Middle Ages in twentieth century social sciences. The reference to the Middle Ages may result from a scholarly acquaintance with the medieval world, as well as from tools forged by medieval studies. Alternatively, it may be correlated with intricate cultural mediations, for example through religion or literature. We would like to invite the practitioners of the various disciplines of the SSH (psychoanalysis, sociology, historical anthropology, history, the history of science and knowledge, art history, and philosophy, among others) to contribute to this issue either with a case study, or with a broader methodological or epistemological reflection on their scientific and knowledge practices envisioned from an historical point of view.

  The perception of scandals and silences change over time. What was once a silence can now be seen as scandalous. The committee invites graduate students from any field to submit proposals on a range of subjects including (but not limited to): To understand and theorise historical and current events, characters, and movements considered scandalous as well as their evolution over time; To analyse and shed light on the silenced, the forgotten and the marginalised in history and historical research; To explore the historiographical and epistemological issues related more broadly to the concepts of scandal and silence, but also disruptive approaches to the humanities.

  The Multidisciplinary Grid 2020 Conference

  The conference is aimed at examining the ‘grid’ as a cross-disciplinary theme with a multiplicity of expressions in terms of definitions, concepts, perceptions, representations, and histories. The ‘grid’ has played a significant role in shaping the spatial imaginaries of a wide range of fields: from Hippodamus of Miletus to the Cartesian revolution in mathematics, from the visual arts to archaeology to 'smart cities' and artificial intelligence. As the 'grid' has become an all-encompassing term, signifying a vast array of infrastructural and communication networks through which contemporary life is mediated and controlled, it is commonly viewed as a quintessential symbol of modernity. The conference strives to explore a new horizon of relationships and fusion of the ‘grids’ in these areas as manifested between humans, between machines, and between humans and machines ‒ bridging philosophical, cultural, pedagogical, technical and ethical issues.

  Limits of humanity, machines without limits?

  The contemporary and robotic scene: exchanges and collaborations

  Il convient de constater qu’aujourd’hui de nombreux artistes introduisent des solutions robotiques dans leurs créations et interrogent ainsi plusieurs visions esthétiques et concepts trans- et posthumanistes. La scène du XXI^e siècle semble être à la pointe des développements actuels de la robotique, comme l’indique le nombre croissant des nouvelles productions dans ce domaine. Pour les roboticiens, cela se traduit par le développement de comportements sociocognitifs cohérents qui produisent chez les spectateurs une illusion de vie, un sentiment d'être en présence de créatures intelligentes et socialement conscientes. Dans les mêmes termes, la scène peut être considérée comme un espace privilégié pour l'étude des comportements humains, où différentes technologies peuvent être déployées pour capturer et modéliser les contingences sensorimotrices humaines. En conséquence, la scène devient un scénario semi-structuré idéal pour le développement de métriques, modèles, techniques et algorithmes capables de décrire l'interaction entre les humains et entre les humains et les robots socialement intelligents.

  The conference Transmission of knowledge on fish and aquatic animals, texts and images (Antiquity, Middle Ages, 16th century) will be the closing event of GDRI Zoomathia, which ends at the end of 2021. The Zoomathia 2021 conference in Caen, organized by the ICHTYA program of Craham, is an extension of the 2017 conference.This conference wishes to emphasize, without being limited to ichthyofauna, on the scientific contribution of ancient sources on aquafauna in the broad sense and the biological and ecological knowledge of the species that compose it; the transmission and diachronic evolution of scholarly data on this fauna through the various knowledge media (texts, iconography - mosaics, illuminated manuscripts, early printed books and engravings, etc.); the mode of representation and identification of  marine animals species permitted by old documents and related methodological issues.
