Geoeconomical and geopolitical approaches
For several years, the world seems to have entered a period of high instability. Economically, the "subprime mortgage crisis" appeared in 2007 in the USA, then spread planet wide in all areas of activity. In 2015, economic difficulties persist (growth stagnation in developed countries and lower growth in emerging markets, explosion of unemployment, deindustrialisation and offshoring, market tensions in China, the euro zone, etc.). In geopolitical terms, tension spots have also multiplied (Saharian and Sahelian Africa, Middle East, Far East and Eastern Europe) leading to strong migratory waves while power poles seem to be redeploying between the USA, China and other regional powers.The aim of the conference "Contemporary Crisis and changes" is to question these contemporary upheavals through both a geo-economic and a geopolitical reading. The conference will provide elements of analysis and compare them especially with contemporary representations of globalisation emphasizing in particular the logic of closure that seems to characterize this phenomenon.

Global diplomacy and natural resources
Stakes, practices and influences of non-state actors (18th-21st centuries)
Since the end of the Cold war, the activity of non-State actors has attracted considerable attention as part of an increasingly globalised governance and diplomacy. As Richard Langhorne has remarked, the 1961 Congress of Vienna ‘marked both the culmination and the beginning of the end of classical diplomacy’, in which ‘the State ha[d] been, since the seventeenth century, the principal and sometimes the only, effective actor’. As Langhorne and Hamilton have convincingly argued in The Practice of Diplomacy, today’s diplomacy is characterised by a ‘blurring [of] the distinctions between what is diplomatic activity and what is not, and who, therefore are diplomats and who are not’.Quite revealing of this change on the international diplomatic stage is the proliferation and the increased importance of multifarious non-State actors (NSA). The waning of classical State diplomacy has thus been paralleled by the advent of transnational organisations, which, whether public or private, now play a key role in the conduct of diplomacy.

La Société française d'économie rurale organise le colloque pluridisciplinaire « Agriculture et géopolitique : rivalités, puissance, coopération » qui se déroulera les 12 et 13 février 2014 à l'université Saint-Quentin Versailles. La question qui sous-tend ce colloque est la suivante : en quoi l’agriculture est-elle (re)devenue un objet géopolitique ? Pour apporter des éléments de réponse, il s'agira notamment de porter un double regard, scientifique et institutionnel, sur la logique conflictuelle à l’œuvre sur les marchés mondiaux agricoles et sur les ressources foncières et hydriques, les aspects régionaux de la conflictualité agricole et alimentaire et de la précarité des approvisionnements, le rôle qu’entend jouer l’Union Européenne et singulièrement la France dans cette économie agricole mondiale en pleine mutation.

Ce colloque sur « Le Liban et la crise syrienne » s’inscrit dans un programme de recherche plus vaste : « Le Proche-Orient et la crise syrienne ». La crise syrienne va se prolonger, même si les combats cessaient en 2013-2014. Les conséquences sur la Syrie et le Proche-Orient sont durables, ce qui justifie une réflexion sur le long terme. Quelles sont les consequences sur le Liban ? Sur la politique intérieure ? Sur son économie ? S’agit-il de la faillite de la politique de reconstruction du Liban après la guerre civile, précipitée par la crise syrienne, ou d’un simple retournement de conjoncture ?

Cette table ronde d’une demi-journée permettra de confronter diverses disciplines (histoire militaire, sociologie de l’innovation, économie) avec l’expérience tactique et la connaissance des programmes et solutions techniques envisagées en France pour la lutte terrestre future. Son objectif est de déterminer dans quelle mesure l’adversaire irrégulier actuel n’est pas, tout au moins partiellement, capable de se montrer tactiquement voire techniquement plus innovant que les forces régulières professionnelles et de haute technologie déployées sur les théâtres d’opérations. -

Les interactions culturelles et la résolution des conflits dans la zone Euromed
Simulation des négociations et colloque inernational
«Les interactions culturelles et la résolution des conflits dans la zone Euromed». Cet événement est le fruit du travail du CADMOS (Centre d'Analyse des Différends et de leurs Modes de Solution, Paris XI), en association avec le Master «Diplomatie et Négociations Stratégiques». Tenue en Alexandrie, les 14 et 15 juin, la simulation de négociations est animée par les étudiants qui endossent, chacun, le rôle d'un Etat., Elle se déroulera sous le regard d'observateurs internationaux venus de France , du Maghreb et du Proche-Orient. Pendant la simulation les étudiants vont aborder le thème de la crise au sein de l'espace Euromed, et ce à travers l'angle culturel. Il s’agit d’une façon d'aller au coeur des conflits en faisant du dialogue culturel un outil de prévention, de gestion et de résolution des crises.La journée du 16 juin sera consacrée au colloque afin d'analyser les perspectives et les innovations dégagées par les étudiants et de donner la parole à des spécialistes internationaux.
